In 2011, there was some talent at QB and OL. It wasn't top talent, but the offense could have been managed with a very strong defense to win games.
Obviously, the loss of Cody Endres during the 2010 season hurt as he would have been the QB starter in 2011. But, Michael Box, who would have been a RS So had success at Indiana Univ (Pa.), but he was run off by PP/GDL right before the season started as they demoted him to the scout team. And, he did play QB in the Arena Football League, so he might have been able to run a conservative offense at UConn in 2011.
The backups would have been Scott McCummings and Johnny McEntee. Michael Nebrich was an early enrollee and competed for the starting job, but he shouldn't have been ready for 2011, but he could have helped down the road. He left after a year and he had a terrific career at Fordham throwing for 8,000+ yards with 66 TDs and 16 INTs to go with 14 rushing TDs.
