"Edsall wasn’t the only coach impressed with Auriemma, as new-hire Dan Hurley, the men’s basketball coach, said he wouldn’t have had as much luck had he been asked to talk to the officer.
“He has a lot of equity. I’ve got to stay below the speed limit right now,” Hurley said with a smile. “I think they would’ve given us the ticket if I had gone up there. They probably would’ve been like ‘Who’s that guy?’”
What did Geno do? He immediately sided with (and disarmed) the officer: " So we were in the left-hand land and got pulled over and I said to the trooper ‘I told them you don’t belong over there.’ I don’t know why the hell they didn’t listen.”
