I've been following the Huskies since 1995. I've been living in a war area for several years now, and following the team via online stats, replays and the very occasional live game helps me take my mind off of the situation around me. This situation really helps me put things in perspective and in all honesty, I wish it on no one.
Of course I understand why the some fans of this team get super upset when we lose, especially when they think it's avoidable, but I agree wholeheartedly with the sentiment the OP shared.
I really, really don't understand all the gloom and doom around the team since the USC L. Granted, some decisions could and probably should have been made differently, but reading some of the opinions here (which everybody has a right to, that's the point of this forum) and especially on social media where absolutely vile and abusive posts are being written on the players and the coaching staff, I'm really, surprised at the negativity (and a bit triggered by the violent tones in some of the online posts, thankfully not here for the most part).
Really surprised at how quickly Geno went from "best coaching job ever" last year to apparently being the worst coach in the nation now. For me, after watching the team do something incredible last year, I have absolute faith in the coaching staff and the players.
And another thing - these players, for the most, are kids. Yes they've been playing basketball for years, have played some international ball, but playing in such high level, under such stress, in a program where the standard is NC or it's a big fat F... It's really, really hard. So I go with empathy, and I figure that they have earned their roster spots and if the coaching staff who seems them day in and out has faith in them, for me that's a no brainer. I go with that.
Anyways, just a couple of thoughts from my side. Personally, I'm grateful to have this team to follow and destress around (I know, who'd have thought this would be DE-stressing for someone) and I am always appreciative of the class being shown by coaches and players in their approach to games, fans, each other.
I have faith in the team, and I have faith in Geno. I'm just simple that way I guess
