That Bazz Pushing Boat Moment

Dove,
Bazz and Boat have been at odds at many times during the season. KO has even remarked about it. I saw it in the USF game down hear in Tampa in person.

They have been at odds for three years and I really didn't see anything this year at all...until that push. Did Boat roll his ankle right after that? He was definitely cracking mentally. I think the timeout that followed the ankle roll may have snapped back into the mission.

Deep down I think Calipari had us and some how could not beat this team. He had no fouls on his starters and then started pummeling our interior, scoring at will and getting fouls on us. I thought UConn was on the ropes.

During this time of stress we saw something we never saw during the season...unless I missed it. We saw Boat unhinge and get off the same page as Bazz. To a point where Boat passes to Bazz on the sideline and then proceeded to try and pass him only to be pushed backward by Bazz. Boat fell back a bit and the Huskies had to regroup. I seriously thought the wheels were coming off there.

What the heck happened? Did a timeout get the lug nuts tightened up again?

I will look forward to another replay of the game. I missed the one last night.
Was this during the sloppy stretch late in the first half when KY cut our lead from 15 to 5 within about 2 minutes?

Bazz is just one of those bosses you like and respect but hate working for. When that happened I was impressed with Bazz, and felt bad for Boat being put in his place on national TV. Boat handled it well, actually very well.

What I came away from it was that there is no 'selfish, prideful' Boat. That myth was expelled for all to see. He handled it humbly and continued with his strong play forgetting all about the incident. Hell he may have known in 15 minutes it will never happen again, so roll with it.

Bazz just wants things to go a certain way and when he is in the moment won't take no for an answer. In his senior year the 'Calhoun' in Bazz was manifesting. I used to think all that pointing and yelling was a little excessive. But it wasn't, it was just his personality. His leadership is second to none.

Second half when the lead was near 1 point and Bazz and Boat were making a few bad passes.

No - Boat was on the bench with two fouls in that stretch. As was DD. The sloppy stretch was because we had no scorers/playmakers left on the floor besides Bazz, who became easy to guard with five guys watching him.

Which contributed greatly to Bazz frustration in the 2nd half before Ollie let him cool down.

One of the biggest cliches in sports is that "we are going to leave it all on the court." For 3 straight weeks, both Bazz and Boat actually did that with an intensity that went unmatched. It had to be both physically and mentally exhausting. Fast forward to the finals, 20 or so minutes away from realizing your ultimate goal, the other team charging......the weight of the situation, the pressure got to two young men for the first time in a long time. It happens and lucky for us, we have the perfect coach to diffuse the situation. Problem solved. Hypothetically, if someone on the other team were to fight either Bazz or Boat, who would be the first one there backing their brother up?

Watching the replay, Bazz didn't push him hard. Boatright was off his feet when Bazz taps him, which made him get off balance a bit. It made it look a lot worse than it actually was.

Exactly! Boat was off balance and Bazz was directing him, told him twice to go the other way and I think Boat was so amp'd up he wasnt paying attention. It was no big deal, we all know that they aren't that close, two big Dogs in same backcourt will do that but they never let it bring the team down. Once Boat learned his true role as defensive stopper/sometime playmaker and not Star then UConn became dangerous.

Watching the trophy presentation and when the trophy was going to be handed to RB he gives it SN and says he holds it first. Says all you need to know about this. Respect and Love.
