Thank you Coach Mora for all you have done for UConn football. You took a risk to join a struggling program and made us a proud program once again. You handled yourself with grace and dignity throughout your tenure and showed great respect for your position and the program from day 1. You are a role model for us all. You have gained many life-long fans and admirers.

Good luck at Colorado State! Enjoy the beauty which that state has to offer!

YEAH ANYONE NOT THANKING "HIM" MORA FOR WHAT HE DID HERE IS NOT REMEMBERING WHAT IT WAS LIKE FROM 2011 TO 2022. IF YOU ARE A CEO AND BUILD A GREAT COMPANY, OTHER COMPANIES WILL WANT TO HIRE YOU TO DO THE SAME THERE. HE'S GOT A FAMILY, MOSTLY ON THE WEST COAST. IF YOU WERE APPROACHED BY A NEW COMPANY THAT WANTED YOU TO MOVE CLOSER TO FAMILY, EVEN IF IT IS A LATERAL MOVE, MOST OF US WOULD CONSIDER IT. I'M HAPPY "HIM" GOT US BACK ON TRACK, AND I'M EXCITED TO SEE WHAT AD David Benedict CAN COOK UP. IF HIS COOKING IS BETTER THAN HIS LAST FOOTBALL HIRE, WE AREN'T THAT FAR OFF FROM EVEN MORE RELEVANCE AND SUCCESS. THANKS COACH AND I'LL BE ROOTING FOR YOU. EVERYONE ELSE THAT FEELS DIFFERENTLY, GET A GRIP OF REALITY. WE WERE FORTUNATE TO HAVE HIM AND TO VERY SOON BE PLAYING FOR 10 WINS AND NO LOSSES IN REGULATION.

The all caps is too much. Thanks Coach. Schedule us for a home and home.

HA! THAT'S HOW I TYPE. SEE EVEN THE LITTLEIST THINGS PISS YOU OFF. LEARN TO LIVE YOUR LIFE WITHOUT BEING SO NEGATIVE. I LIVE IN FLORIDA NOT COLORADO, AND I'M NOT A FOOTBALL COACH. GET A GRIP DUDE.
You've gotta admit that it's weird that the only thing you didn't write in complete caps in your last post was the name "david benedict", right?

I appreciate what he’s done for our program and how he’s revitalized our image in this new landscape, but as someone who just saw him stop by band practice 2 weeks ago to give us accolades, I can’t help but feel completely let down. I won’t wish the worst but I also won’t support him anymore.

Should’ve been the tipoff I guess

And I will add this thought and people will disagree.
UConn probably helped Jim Mora much more than Jim Mora helped UConn. Yes, we have risen from the ashes to a level which can only be considered adequate. Jim Mora got back into the spotlight, coaching, his preferred lifestyle, all based on "Brotherhood!" He made out very nicely. UConn? I think JM left us at maybe 50% of where we thought he would take us. no disrespect, but in hindsight we may see he got us to the 50 yard line and bailed.

When jilted three are too extremes and one right answer.
Anger - not good. No need to wish or say anything bad.
Like a Whimp - it’s me not you. Thank you for gracing me with your presence, hope you are super happy.
(In my life I’ve probably done a little of both)
The “right way” - thanks for everything (no caps). Last I’ll say or think about you. Next man up time to move on.

It was very much a mutually beneficial relationship. Both of our stocks were very low and it has worked out well for both of us moving forward. No need to "win." It's not a zero sum game.

It would be real slimey if he doesn't issue any kind of statement
I would assume his statement and any thanks to UConn would be something that came about through the introductory press conference, probably as a part of the answer to, why did you decide to leave UConn for Colorado State.

It'll probably read something like: "I want to thank UConn & Dave Benedict for giving me the opportunity to get back into coaching and the players for working so hard to make us successful, I came to Colorado State because I see tremendous opportunity... blah, blah, blah

I would be surprised if we got anything more than a generic response on the record, in a public forum where it can be reported.

As someone who made a "last word about that" statement, I find myself posting about "that" for the third time. I think we all just wanted the season to never end. Boy, did it end!!! I'm still a day or so and a mountain of turkey away from "NEXT".

If he handled his departure properly like a standup man, I would agree with you 100%.

Instead, he handled his departure like a selfish, cowardly tool. After this.....sending him a thank you.....NEVER

The biggest thing Mora did for the program and UConn's reputation was to show competency can bring winning seasons, low levels of scrutiny, and job security.

A head coach who has confidence in their ability to run a program now sees UConn as a viable way to showcase their talents. Even if it is just rehab of their image for a larger audience.

Sure, I'll thank him for helping get UConn football out of the abyss and for all he did to be an ambassador for the UConn football program. I think he did the best he could in the four years he was here. He found a situation at CSU that he thinks that works better for him at this point in his career and he took it while it was available, so good for him. Most of us would do the same in similar life-improving situations if we thought that's what we wanted.

Here's the thing though that's not sitting well with me this morning as we've had over a day to ponder what's happened.

We're all fans of college sports. We all bleed Husky blue and many of us do as much as we can in our own ways to support the program. We all want UConn to be in a better situation (which is a P4 conference) that would financially sustain our ability to stay competitive at the highest level of college sports - football, basketball, etc. And we all know that football drives the money bus to making that happen.

We're asked every year to do our part to contribute to that. Go to games, donate to the university, buy merchandise to help with NIL, travel to bowl games, etc. Be a good fan and encourage more people to do the same. And we had a very good past two seasons. 9 wins in each, bowl win at Fenway (with tons of UConn fans) vs an ACC school last year, undefeated at home this year, attendance average topped 30k, and we await another bowl bid. That's all gravy and credit goes all around for making that happen.

And now, out of the blue, just a few days after our 9th win in our regular season finale, our head coach, our ambassador for the UConn Football program, slips away overnight and heads to CSU to become their head coach and we get nothing more than a notice from the university that it's happened. Nothing from Mora at all other than altering his social media pic and blocking some UConn fans.

It's not that I expected him to stay a long time here. It's more about the way this is done. The way it always seems to be done at college football season's end when the season hasn't even really ended. It feels like being left at the altar again (a la Randy 1.0, but at least he stayed for that bowl). There's just something fundamentally wrong with a system where you're asked to buy into, you do your part, and the same people who want you to buy in just get up and leave in the middle of the night before the season's done. Then players follow suit, some before the bowl game is even announced, some may not play to prepare for the draft, etc.

Bowls should still mean something, even the lesser tier ones. Realistically it's what we hoped UConn would accomplish all season, and now it feels much less important with what's just happened.

It's just very discouraging and disillusioning that this is the norm in college sports and we're asked to just deal with it. Makes you wonder if it's even worth it anymore.

Happy Thanksgiving, Yard.

It's all transactional at this point. As fans we need to realize that, if not embrace it. The players, coaches, AD's, agents, universities, etc. have already done so.
