Does anyone know if Aaliyah Moore is planning to return to Texas next season? She initially planned to redshirt this year and return in 2026-27 but she isn't listed on Texas's official basketball roster and doesn't mention Texas Women's Basketball on her IG.

She is not returning. I can’t locate the links. She recently signed with a NIL representation firm. The media image was not clear whether Moore signed as an agent or player. Vic reported to the media just prior to that announcement that Moore was doing well but that he did not know what her future plans were. Timing of your question? I was just thinking the other day that Moore played with the edge this year’s team sometimes lacks.

Thought she was planning to return after having surgery last year. If this is true, it's a bummer as I was looking forward to seeing her have one more season.

That was what I thought too but I can understand moving on. She hasn’t ever been consistently healthy and it’ll be a new era at Texas with fellow recruit Harmon leaving and a ton of elite wings and forwards on the roster. I still think she’d get major minutes but might be looking for more in what’s hopefully a full final season for her

Bummer, I loved watching her play.

The 2021 HS class was just crushed by injuries. Looking at the former top 10 recruits, almost all of them (bolded below) are still playing college basketball or have eligibility left due to injuries giving them redshirt seasons:
1. Azzi Fudd-torn ACL, this is her first fully healthy season
2. Raven Johnson-torn ACL, missed entire first year

3. Saniya Rivers-healthy
4. Sania Feagin-healthy
5. Caroline Ducharme-career killed by concussions
6. Aaliyah Moore-only had 2 healthy seasons
7. Jersey Wolfenbarger-no injuries I know of, sat out a season due to transferring right before it began
8. Olivia Miles-torn ACL
9. Teonni Key-torn ACL
10. Rori Harmon-torn ACL

Don' jinx this

Yesterday's game vs. Tennessee was a disappointment to me and further solidified in my mind that Texas is not truly in the discussion as a lock for the Final Four and is in the second tier of teams after UConn, UCLA and SC. The next 4 are Vandy, Texas, LSU, Michigan then any number of others form the 3rd tier-Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Oklahoma with Ole Miss, Ohio State, Iowa, TCU all lurking.

Sadly, I agree with this. I wish Vic could hold Madison Booker out a game or 2 for "rest" a la Sarah Strong. But the Texas schedule and the Texas team strength without Madison do not allow for this I am afraid. Maybe Maddie can play fewer minutes against Arkansas on Thursday. Anyway, we have a month to go before March madness. Maybe Texas will emerge from its doldrums.

Does Texas have any consistant 3 point shooters?
They have three players who take 2+ attempts per game but only two of those are consistent:
  • Jordan Lee is probably their best threat but based on stats she is slightly above average when compared against other 3-point shot takers in the SEC -- but she can get hot. For the season she shoots 1.9/5.5 for a 33.8% average.
  • Aaliyah Crump is their other 3-point shooter. She shoots 1.2/3.5 for a 33.3%.
  • Madison Booker is their third player but I wouldn't consider her a consistent threat considering she is 0.4/2.1 for a 21.1% average. With that said, she shot about 30% from 3 as a freshman and 40% as a sophomore with a similar number of 3-point shot attempts, so this could just be an outlier year for her and is probably indicative of her exhaustion / usage rate.

Coach Vic scares me with all his sideline antics. Calm down, sir, before you pop a blood vessel. He’s so animated and mouths off constantly about what should have been a foul. C’mon coach. Your PG was borderline assaulting Cooper and then flopping like a fish on a dock in July. Maybe that’s what Coach Kenny was alluding to when they played Kentucky. I guess you have to do what you have to do when your ladies are struggling.
