It's hard to believe how badly that team has fallen apart. I look at their record and can't comprehend how a team with that kind of talent can lose to so many bad teams.

And not just lose, but get their asses handed to them. G is trying to get fired at this point. She just has to be. No team is this ill-prepared to compete without something very wrong going on behind the scenes.

In their defense, they did much better than the comparable UNC Tar Heels...

Yeah, losing by 24 to Kansas is hard to understand. It's a disaster.

She really should have stayed at Duke. She was building something really good there, and then she traded that for this mess.

Assuming some accuracy in the highlighted part of the quoted post, I can't resist thinking of a major wcb program with a huge arena, a powerful fan base, a great tradition, and a coach who will likely step down soon. Great opportunity for a coach who wants to build a dynasty.

You disagree that she was doing a really good job there? But I suppose if she was that easy to steal for Texas it was only a matter of time before she left. If it wasn't Texas it would had been another program.

She was doing a great job here at Duke.... of course I was disappointed to see her go. I dont think it was THAT easy to steal her away. Not sure there are that many programs she would have left for... cant say there are many better programs than Duke to which to jump ship.. probably less then 5.

Have you seen her pay and compensation package? Gail is knocking down about 1.3 million dollars a year. Why would she want to get fired? It seems to have little if no importance to U of Texas whether women's BB is successful or not . Gail is one of the top earning female coaches in all of sports. Any sport!!!

I am very much aware of her compensation, which is one of many indicators that Texas is interested in having a successful WBB program.

Through the first four years of her tenure, she had not fared especially well against A&M, OU, and Baylor, but at least her kids were competing. Now they are not even competing with Kansas and Iowa State. She has clearly lost this team in a year that was really critical for her. I think she's given up. Certainly, her kids have. There is no way she can be retained with results like this. If they were fighting, that'd be one thing, but this is disgraceful.

Adding to their misery, Texas is getting creamed by TAMU in the recruiting battle.
