Something is up...hearing rumors of prep school or JUCO route for him. He tweeted today saying "shake my head....now this". Doesn't seem good

Husky99, 3uconn or anyone- any insight?

The amount of people who can't get his name right probably put him over the edge.

Nothing to worry about...

820 combined math/reading ? I feel like you could guess on every question and score better than that.

If Sheppard truly got an 820, I suspect Towson should prepare for life without him.

That score would put him at the bottom of the bottom's bottom.

Pretty sure Samuel is all good. They needed to see his official grades for everything and make sure he qualified.

its been pretty much expected that Sheppard wasn't going to qualify, never heard anything in regards to Samuel, I figure with the new standards in place they're not letting you commit and sign LOIs unless its a sure bet you're meeting NCAA standards. Samuel aside, the PSAL schools really need to get their acts together. Every year its the same thing with a whole batch of D1 kids having to go the prep or juco route because they don't have the grades/scores to qualify, these ADs and coaches need to be more proactive in preventing this from happening and getting kids on a straight line when they know who is going to be able to get a free ride from the jump.

Don't you get 500 points for spelling your name right? The kids do have dreadfully long names to be fair.

This happens with many many recruits. A tos article says from his high school coach that he is fine with sats and grades

I think Samuel is good and he will be a hard working, stable and competitive yet unspectacular player. That's fine with me since KO appears capable of bringing in a few spectacular types and that's all you need with other hard nosed guys.

The scale is now based off of 2,400 as opposed to 1,600.

820 would've been horrible on the old scale. The new one? forget about it.

an 820? did they change the scale again?
He will have to go through the CAP summer program. its for students who have the grades, but dont get good SAT scores.. alot of the athletes are in it. i had to go through it when i went to UCONN, as i got a SAT score in the 800's but i was on the honor roll. so this is not unusual. i although i know the standards to get in are different from the late 90's when i went in.

Samuel did not get the 820...they were referring to his teammate, Shamiek Sheppard.

iirc you get 400 points on each section for writing you name in correctly, meaning this has to be the old scale, but that is still absolutely horrendous. Dude must have gotten like 15 questions correct total

Thanks for the insight and honesty. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. I think Samuel will be serviceable this year.

Thank God. I was thinking that I thought my 950 in 1983 was decent. Not UConn decent (needed a 1000) but overall okay.

Each multiple choice question is graded on a scale where a correct answer is +1 and a wrong answer is -0.25. Because there are 5 choices, if you were to guess on every question it would yield an expected return of 0 points per question. So if you did worse than you would on average by just guessing you could lose points. If you were to get a 0 on this scale it would convert to around a 200 per section. That's where the "400 for getting your name right" comes from. It's possible to do worse than that.

pretty sure that's at least 18...1900 today. gotta be.

My daughter got 1340/1600 and 2080/2400 in 2009 and was wait-listed by UConn. Admission standards are way up.

In my day we somersaulted for just not having to take it twice even at the minimal score. Half of a Saturday for a teen, even once. was too much to take.
