I just had a random thought. So I was thinking, I find it unlikely that both TN and SCar will make it to the FF. That begin said who feels the worst about it if they don't get in? Right now I'd have to say SCar gets in over TN and that's purely because they have been there most recently but I feel like it could go either way. So if TN gets in is that a bigger accomplishment than SCar getting back seeing as it's been a while for TN? Or is it not as big of deal since Tennessee was a perennial power for so long and SCar is new to this?

It is unlikely that they will be placed in the same region, so they both could make it. Most likely Final Four would be UConn, ND, Gamecocks, and Vols. Baylor will challenge somebody, and maybe Maryland, but who else?

I'd put Baylor in the final 4.... they probably will go undefeated going into the NCAA's

I currently have UConn, Notre Dame, South Carolina, Baylor but if TN does well this year they could end up with a #1 seed and a decent track to the FF. I think only one of them gets a #1 seed since Baylors OOC schedule is pretty much garbage but they will probably win out so the committee will feel obligated to give them a #1.

I was thinking the same thing. It gets crowded at the top. Everybody is NOT going to make it to the final four. There teams that believe they have a legitimate shot in making that trip to Indianapolis in April, but will get side tracked, "derailed" or just get beat somewhere along the way.

I think the top 10 teams will knock each other off. I don't believe a lower seed (although stranger things have happened) will beat a top 10 team.
Most of your top 10 teams won't fall until the regionals (games 3&4). The first weekend will be "warm-ups" for the top ranked teams.

Tennessee looks good on paper, but we need to see them in action against some "quality" opponents before we anoint them. We've already seen USCe, and remember how they for the most part (except for a couple of hiccups) breezed through their schedule last year. We know what they're about, and we know they'll be an improved squad this year.

Whichever of those two teams learns how to score more than 60 points advances.

Historically the NCAA Selection Committee frowns on poor OOC scheduling (look at Princeton last year. they were not deserving of the 8th seed. they should have gotten probably a 5th seed). I think Baylor's poor OOC schedule is going to get them a #2 seed. Hopefully Baylor will be placed in Tennessee region because I feel they can beat them.

It will largely depend on the where each team is seeded going into this tournament. Assuming South Carolina is a #1 it will be a bigger disappointment for South Carolina to not make the FF this year because that will have been 3 consecutive years as a #1 seed with only 1 FF appearance to show for it & and a remarkable close call vs NC to get to that one FF. Lady Vols have been 4, 1, 2, TBD seed since 2013, so based solely on seeding Lady Vols had lower expectation of reaching the final 4.

I think people are overlooking FSU - a lot of size, experience, and talent. I tend to agree it's UCONN, ND, SC, Baylor, Tenn, FSU, Maryland and possibly Texas as the top 8 teams (not in any particular order). It's going to be a fun year for people who like parity (notwithstanding UCONN). Next year, however, parity across the board...

I agree. Right now my final 4 would be Uconn, Baylor, South Carolina, and Tennessee. Notre Dame losing Ali was HUGE. Essentially returning Allen to the point. I think Notre Dame biggest downfall this year will be lack of consistent wing scoring ... A problem they haven't had in YEARS

I agree that the OOC schedule makes a 2 seed more likely than a 1 seed. But let me tell you, whoever gets Baylor as a 2 seed in their region is not going to be happy. This team is LOADED with talent and Alexis Jones elevated this team to a FF team.

Baylor will beat any team not named UCONN. After watching them play last night I am convinced that by tourney time they will be the second best team in the nation. I know the opponent was weak, but that doesn't affect the quality of play that the team demonstrated, and that was without Nina Davis. Look for Davis and Jones to be one of the most dynamic duos in WCBB.

Kalani Brown and Beatrice Mompremier are the real deal. I probably shouldn't have been, but I was quite surprised by how good Brown is. Just by her size she is going to be a factor, but she is very fundamentally sound.

I would enjoy a Duke vs Baylor game this by year.

You mind maybe messaging me the stat sheet? I agree with your anaylsis. Alexis Jones WILL have a better year than Niya Johnson. Little scary.

I went ahead and used Google. The statline of that backcourt is beautiful. A healthy lex is the 2nd best guard in the nation behind Mo.

Jones may well be an All-American this year based on what I saw last night. Her quickness and passing are second to none. And she can drain the 3, hit the mid-range jumper and get to the rim. I suspect that Mulkey will want the ball in her hands much the same way she wanted the ball in Odyssey's hands. But Jones will pass more than Sims did, plus she will have a better supporting cast.

I'd say that tOSU is just as viable a FF possibility as Tenn, as long as they don't get put in Bridgeport.

The four regional sites this year are Bridgeport, Lexington, Dallas and Sioux Falls. If Kentucky can get themselves a 4 seed then according to the rules Kentucky would be placed there and that would preclude either Tenn or S Car. from also being put there. That would mean that if both Tenn and S Car become one seeds (and assuming UConn is the 1 in Bridgeport) one of them would have to beat Baylor in Dallas while the other would go to Sioux Falls. I expect Notre Dame to once again get to the FF and would expect them to be placed in Lexington.

Sioux Falls? Could they come up with a more obscure location? I'd probably travel to any of the other three.

It is much too early in the year to make this any kind of analysis--but random thinking I believe says USC knocks off the Vols. Baylor is a bit of unknown but loaded with talent and tall. The Vols are loaded with talent my question is this talent experienced ?? To get to the final four it is a big help to have been there before--your kids have seen the hoopla and media blitz and the awe factor is less. Who is that? UConn ND USC--MD is a way out side team . I'll make this easy to tear apart--how about Duke??? Louisville??
With rare exceptions I believe USC last year--was facing a lot of cup cakes and had superb luck at Duke--they should have lost that one.
ND Squeaked by USC in the last second--luck took ND to the Final game With USC's talent, ND should not have won--experience???
