Volnation must be imploding
UConn's loss to them now looks worse in retrospect. Yuck.

Ayyyyuh!Good ol Rocky Top (boom), Rocky Top Tennessee
The TN team that played UConn and the TN team that have showed up lately look completely different. They were locked in on a mission to beat UConn, but these past few games they’ve just looked like they’re ready to get the season over with. Beating UConn was big for them; I think it’s gone to their heads a bit.UConn's loss to them now looks worse in retrospect. Yuck.
Pretty much. The griping about the foul disparity is humorous. But Tennessee plays an in your face full court press, Vandy does not. (on edit - Tennessee also jacked up 29 3-pointers while Vandy drove to the basket a lot or dumped the ball into the post)...Great win for Vandy and Shea. First time Vandy has beaten Tennessee twice in the same season. Vandy sure is on the rise! There is also talk on their board about chemistry issues. No one seems to have anything concrete, but lots of chatter and speculation.Volnation must be imploding

I think Tennessee ends up a 5 seed and doesn't host the first weekend. The 5-12 game is tricky as they will likely get a good mid-major but we will see what happens.
Refs just want some breathers. Call a foul on the team that’s making you runThe foul complaints are kind of crazy from TENN people when you look at how they play. Lots of player changes for high energy defense is going to result in lots of fouls. If you look at their box scores throughout the season they frequently have more fouls called even in their victories.
I agree. This style of play is more of a fit. With the incoming class will make a difference. Tennessee will have the best backcourt in the country.I think that Tennessee just doesn’t have the athletes right now, period. They are over reliant on 3 point shooting, but don’t have real 3 point shooters. If they aren’t turning teams over to get a lot of extra possessions, that doesn’t leave them with a lot of options. It seems a bit disconcerting that Coach Caldwell hasn’t adjusted at all during the season. She has only blamed the team during press conferences. I‘m not surprised that the team seems a bit checked out at times.
FWIW, one of the most successful teams I can recall at the press/trap was Rutgers in the mid 2000’s. However, they also had a half court offense that was decent and a solid group of players, not to mention a hall of fame coach. They got to the final four a couple of times, but never won it all. Tennessee seems a long way from that kind of success.
I agree. You guys will have one exciting team next season. You guys were exciting this season and did better than a lot of people expected. Well done and best wishes in the tournament.I agree. Why do Vols say things like that?I agree. This style of play is more of a fit. With the incoming class will make a difference. Tennessee will have the best backcourt in the country.
There will be depth at guard next year. Boyd, PauldoTwins, Cooper and others can mix and match. Can you name me a better backcourt? Why do Vols say things like that?
It’s an excellent recruiting class. It’s full of talented quad 1 prospects. It could end up producing one of the best back courts in
The country.. who knows? It could end up producing the best backcourt!
But Vols have to almost guarantee failure by saying “Tennessee WILL have THE best back court in the country.
Oh well. Vol gonna Vol
I hate to disagree but this just comes with the territory of being a fan of anything. Some fans are more sensible or reserved and others make bold claims off of little evidence. It's in the name...fans are fanatical. I for one think this world is a much more entertaining place because of all the different shades of fandom. Why do Vols say things like that?

Southern Cal, SC, ND, UCLA …There will be depth at guard next year. Boyd, PauldoTwins, Cooper and others can mix and match. Can you name me a better backcourt?
Exactly.Southern Cal, SC, ND, UCLA …
So you’re saying that Notre Dame’s guards are equal to Boyd and 2 untested 5’5” high school guards??Notre Dame will have a very good backcourt. It will be close. If those two return.

Add in Cooper and Whitehorn. So you’re saying that Notre Dame’s guards are equal to Boyd and 2 untested 5’5” high school guards??
To this outsider not much different than during the Harper era, which was not much different than the Warlick era. I guess should wait to see how they do during the Tourney. One might argue this was a step backward. Harper finished 3rd or 4th in the SEC every season. This year they were 8th. Conference got tougher adding Texas and Oklahoma, but that doesn't explain them dropping 4 or 5 slots in the standings. So how has Caldwell done in year one?
Thanks for the comments. I think it has been a good start. A new staff and style of play. Adding several new players. Yes i know the struggles late in the season. Looking at the top teams most of the also struggled at some point during the season. Notre Dame looked like the best team. At one point during the season. They also lost a few games of late. Yes we will see how the tournament goes.To this outsider not much different than during the Harper era, which was not much different than the Warlick era. Obviously her tenure will not be decided by this season. I recognize she brought some excitement to the program and is recruiting better than Harper ever did. Have to wait a few more seasons to have a better idea how well the hire worked out.
That was a big win.I should probably add that the win over UConn was worth quite a lot. That alone probably made the season successful.
