I sort of (barely) disagree with Coco that DD is over rated - From a talent perspective, she's a premier player. BUT... he was spot on with everything else.
Yeah, I don't get it either... I always thought after you began playing talent was based on your body of work not just your potential. Isn't talent just what you see in someone before they have the opportunity to prove themselves? I could see that argument being made prior to the season starting for the newbies, players who were out with injury, and the transfers but once it starts you have to be evaluated based on your output or lack there of. On the average DD is actually providing the same type of numbers she provided at North Carolina. Maybe TN fans were expecting more? On the other hand what the heck is everyone else doing? Have their numbers improved? All I know is when I watch them try to attempt anything the resembles offense 70% of the time I feel like I'm watching a wild moose struggle on the ice of a lake frozen over. They are constantly slipping and struggling looking for a strong hold to get their grip and put themselves in a position to escape and survive. Unfortunately, this isn't one of those situations where a passer by sees them and calls for help. This story generally goes in the way of the the moose falling through the ice and succumbing to hypothermia. Talent shmalent... based on what?
Not according to the boxscore . Weise had 17 points in that game. I don't believe in the Pac 10 at any level-Marshmello soft IMO.
That is why that game on 2/15 could get interesting. If TN did happen to pull that one out could you imagine the publicity on the SEC Network? Think about it both teams are susceptible to long scoring droughts.... Whoever gets to 60 first wins.

It's an unfortunate reality that WCBB is so little well known that announcers and writers latch onto a single player, not only because they don't do the work to know the team better, but because they think the viewer/reader hasn't either. If you watch the 03 and 04 NC's, you'd think that Dee was the only player on the court. And even though at times it felt that way, it was a team game. But the single player, shouldering the burden herself, makes for a more compelling narrative. So, for worse or even worse, DeShields carries that burden and now, failing to play even competently, is in a very, very sad situation.
Take solace in the fact that they're clinging to the last blade of grass (at #25) before falling off the edge of the wcbb world.
I think it highly likely they lose to USC and A&M, and 50/50 they lose to Vandy. Regardless of the Vandy outcome...I think that should be a wrap for their Top 25 ranking run! Couldn't happen to a nicer program!
Call me (very) cynical, but that individual knows well who the best team in wcbb is and was just being petty - wanted to throw a wrench into UConn's consecutive weeks run atop the polls. The envy and spitefulness is the price one pays for being King!

This statement doesn't pass the laugh test. Holly has no idea where her team stacks up against their peers? If true, it goes a long way to explaining why they're about to fall out of the Top 25 next week.
