Both Sagarin and Massey have them OUTSIDE the top 25 (29 and 32 respectively)
Voters vote with emotion - computers just the facts The difference between 23 and 29 is all emotion

Can't you recognize sarcasm when you read it!:cool:

TN survives for another week, but they lost 71% of their vote total between last week and this (209 points to 60.) The break between them and #22 is 90 points, between them and #26 is only 20 points. They have 2 more losses than any other ranked team, and of any team getting votes except DePaul who has one less loss.

Even if they did fall out of the Top 25... I would still be shocked. I mean I have seen the games and I understand the "why". The "how" is still insane to me.

Since conference play Tenneesee has lost EVERY ranked game they were besides Missouri(best conference win), yet still ranked with EIGHT LOSSES. Gotta love the WCBB sports bias.

KEEP IT REAL. Tenneesee had been underperforming ALL year. Tell it like it is. And maybe then they will start playing better basketball. As long as WCBB wants to act like everything is okay and hold on to PASS success and not focusing on CURRENT performance the game will never evolve in the eyes of the media. Btw I love the Nebraska Coach rant.

Polling is done by the media and coaches... so, perhaps THEY have to evolve, not WCBB

Correct, TENN over-rated almost as much as Duke (men or women)!

Both teams led by freshman and sophomores. If Coach K had Amile to bolster his confidence in the front court we have 2-3 more wins. Next year his team will be scary good. Not 100% sure Ingram leaves. As for Joanne team lets just see how they look in a few minutes against Notre Dame.

Wait, JPM will still be there and Duke will be scary good? That does not compute.

Louisville has a roster of 12 kids, 9 of whom are freshman or sophomores. Additionally, of their 3 upperclassmen, only one of those 3 was with the team last year, Cortnee Walton. Transfers Briahanna Jackson and walk on Dakota Weatherford are essentially new to the team, but do add some "maturity" to the roster numbers.

That being said, we are riding a 14 game winning streak and undefeated in the ACC. We took serious lumps early (expected in my eyes), however, good coaching can overcome these things.
Duke and TN are not alone in their roster numbers being so young. Unfortunately for them and their fan bases, they are not as gifted in the coaching department.

Wondering if you meant the rant about getting butts into the gym? If so, I think that was the Wisconsin coach at the presser after playing Nebraska.

?? Didn't see Diamond mentioned in your article or headline.

Anyway I did notice this, regarding TN/SEC rating bias: "With eight losses, the Lady Vols have the most defeats for a ranked team at this point since the 1999-2000 season."

It was in the following photo's headline Now I cannot find this photo in ESPN.

It's a joke that Tenn is in the top 25, but the reality is inertia. I would imagine they will be either 25 in the coaches poll tomorrow, or just outside the top 25...

There is no surprise here. Before the season started ESPN, now know as the SEC Network, dragged DD up to the studios together with real AAs to promote her in all her glory. They are not about to let go of the story line. Facts do not matter. The one thing that matters ... ESPN "analysis".

You know - 60 points means their average ranking on all 32 ballots was 24.125 or in other words the most balanced voting for them would be 28 ballots with them at #24 and 4 ballots with them at #25. I'm sure some had them a lot higher and some dropped them completely, but that is what 60 points means.

It sure is. I mean in order to be in the Top 25 don't you have to beat somebody in the top 25?

They did. Oregon State, who has pretty much been a top 10 team for most of the year...

It could also be 30 votes at #24 (60), 2 votes out 25 (zero).

Or two votes at #1, 1 vote at #15 and 29 voters left them off the ballot. (I did say the most balanced voting would be the 28 and 4 not the only permutation - those are pretty endless.)

Oregon State looked pretty decent last night. I have been watching a lot of SEC games so it was nice to watch the pace of the PAC 12 games. Still a lot of turnovers and physicality but Oregon State looked legit and ASU looked like they only had 1 good player but were at least trying to play as a team. Oregon state just had more deciding factors. In reality the only reason Tennessee is still ranked is because they got to start the year @ #4 for reasons unknown to humans.

I agree with you. Oregon State played solid defense all night, they may be one team that is making major improvements as the season goes on and could make a deep run in the tournament.
