Anyone know if Teggart was invited to any of the Senior Games? If so, which one and how did he do? I think he's gonna be a legit NFL kicker. The kids got a great leg and can be an instant contributor!

Found this... http://articles.boston.com/2012-01-21/sports/30651206_1_dave-teggart-kendall-reyes-nfl-draft

The University of Connecticut is being represented by four football players in postseason all-star games.
The games are designed to showcase seniors in advance of the NFL draft this spring.
Center Moe Petrus is playing Saturday in the East-West Shrine Game in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Offensive tackle Mike Ryan will play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Defensive tackle Kendall Reyes has been chosen for the Senior Bowl next Saturday in Mobile, Ala.
Place kicker Dave Teggart will play in the Players All-Star Classic on Sat., February 4 in Little Rock, Ark.

I won't be surprised one bit if Teggart has a career in the NFL. It is not easy to find a solid kicker.

Teggart was awesome. Very clutch - kick in snowstorm against USF, kick down in Tampa for BE BCS slot. Many, many great moments. We all will miss him.

For the record, whether he was an "under-the-radar", a 1-star, instead of 2-star (or something along those lines) or a "Randy knows recruiting, regardless of what the experts think . . . Teggart was terrific. He was a player and I'd be thrilled if UConn can come up with somebody to carry on his legacy.

With his great consistency, his ability to make clutch kicks and his very good record of making long kicks from 50-55 yds, I'd be surprised if Teggart DOESN'T make an NFL roster!

i remember kickers getting drafted but isn't it extremely rare for a team to waist a pick on a K? most likely he will be a FA add by someone. imagine is bosie state had teggart.

You're referring to 2010 Dan when NO kickers were drafted at all! Typically though, the best kickers are drafted somewhere between rounds 4 - 7. This was the case from 2000-2009 and in 2011. Occasionally they were drafted as high as rounds 2 & 3, but not so much recently. Naturally, there is always the exception too, as Sebastian Janikowki was drafted in Round 1 by the Raiders in 2000.

so then how many kickers in the draft this year are better that teggart? i'll rule out alabamas and bosies kickers for you. could teggart get drafted?

I definitely think he could get drafted. However, I don't really know how many other kickers there were that had similar, if not better numbers. I'm not gonna lie, I'm clearly biased in my thoughts on him being a great kicker, but I haven't been scouring the kicker numbers lately! :)

If he doesn't get drafted, I truly believe he'll get signed as a Free Agent. The kid has a NFL type leg.

I would be surprised (pleasantly) if Teggart gets drafted based on how few kickers to get drafted (usually 1 - 3 per year). He will definitely be in an NFL camp with a chance to stick. Really depends on the team who signs him (Baltimore is in the market for a new kicker, that is fo sho). Hopefully his agent works to get him in camp with someone who is serious about making a change at the position, as opposed to a team who is looking for someoen to give their starter a breather during camp.

Wow, look at that 40 time. No fake field goals for Teggart I guess. Doesn't mean he can't kick the crap out of the ball though...

I saw him out during my freshman year after a loss to Pitt, doesn't look like much of an athlete let alone a football player. But after all he is a kicker. He had a great career with the Huskies and I wish him the best and hope he catches on with someone.

Haha, well, does THIS look like a pro athlete?

If this guy can make NFL money, Teggart can haha.

I'm saying he was out with the rest of the team, didn't realize he was on the team until I asked JT. haha.

Haha touche. I'm sure if you had to pick out a player, he's probably not the first guy you'd pick from a lineup. When I was there Nuzzi was the kicker. He was pretty recognizable and is a very outgoing guy it seems so people knew him.

The problem with kickers (and punters) is that every team needs exactly 1. That means that there are only 32 open jobs at a given time. I think he's good enough to get into a camp, and in the right circumstances make a team... It's just that there aren't too many open spots for these specialists.

In any event, good luck to him!

They also tend to have longer careers if they are good and can handle the job mentally. So less turnover. Wishing him the best!!

I love Teggart as much as the next guy and will be forever thankful for his clutch kicks in 2010 but the one thing that may keep him from finding an NFL home is his leg strength. He can boom the field goals, but there's obviously a good reason he never handled kickoffs for us. Regardless, best of luck to him!

This. NFL kickers are so damn consistent it isn't even funny. Nearly every team has a damn good kicker and once they've proven they can handle the pressure, no sense bringing in a kid and take chances.

I think this is more about specialization. We had other guys that were more than capable of it so it makes more sense to have each focus on one aspect of special teams. Teggart definitely has the leg to make it from mid 50s. It's not like many teams line up for 60 yard field goals too often. And it's not out of the realm of possibility for him to add a little bit to his range.

Teggart has an NFL leg. He'll at the least get invited to a few camps. But I think he could get drafted very late. Probably will be better for him to be a FA though.

May help him just a little that the NFL kicks off from the 35 now instead of the 30.
