USA outscores Puerto Rico 25-11 in the 2nd qtr. behind Boston, Howard, and Hillmon-Baker to take a 43-33 lead into halftime. They are hitting fine from behind the arc (6-13 46.15%), but have struggled hitting from inside of it (13-47 27.66%)...

Another strong scoring effort in the 3rd period outscoring Puerto Rico 25-12 extends the USA's lead to 68-45....

The United States defeats Puerto Rico 87-65. Rhyne Howard and Nazahrah Hillmon-Baker led the way with 17 points each. Howard also had 3 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals and a blocked shot, and Hillmon-Baker added 11 rebounds. Aliyah Boston added 15 pts, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and a steal, and Elissa Cunane added 10 pts and 8 rebounds.

I had been observing that both Haley Jones and Ashley Owusu had been no-shows for the first 2 games - Jones finally woke up: she was 0-5 for much of the game, but shot 4-6 the rest of the way to score 9 points and 5 rebounds. Owusu is still struggling, going 0-4 for 0 points in 19:30 minutes of play, with 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal......

The United States next play Venezuela tomorrow at 6:10 pm......
