As a person with a passing knowledge of Notre Dame as a result of having had two brothers and several other acquaintances attend there, I would offer some hopefully non-harmful speculation about why she left ND (and the choice of Michigan State as the alternative fits in with that):

I would guess that her public association with the "I can't breathe" theme a year ago made her quite unpopular with the majority of the Notre Dame student body, whose political views would be predictably opposite to that. I can imagine that in this election year, they made their disagreement known to her in ways that probably included some communication that was less than civil.

I think she probably wanted to be in a more supportive campus environment. I would guess that it had little or nothing to do with basketball. I do not think that the coaches or her teammates would have been anything less than fully supportive of her personally, however they may have felt about her political views.

Any facts here or all speculation?

Wow! We should keep the knives away from you. I on the other hand applauds her for standing up for her politics. The USA is still a democracy, isn't it? Or, is it just for the few- they should just play basketball and shut up! God forbid if one of the Uconn players (and I would not put it pass outspoken Kia Nurse or Gabby) articulate themselves in that rightening; they would be stoned.

Hah! All I am saying is that if one chooses to be outspoken, on any subject, and especially in the limelight of a national environment, you cannot expect nothing to happen as a result - good or bad.

Yes - but you can expect that people do not take it to the stage of personal harassment which is not cool and often crosses into illegal.

. . . And no offense to MSU, but what carries more weight and sounds more impressive, a degree from Mich State or Notre Dame ?

Well, if you ask someone from Ann Arbor, they will contemptuously refer to State as
"the cow college".
