Former NBA player to be sentenced for Ponzi scheme:

"A former NBA player known for a buzzer-beating shot in the NCAA Tournament more than 20 years ago faces sentencing in New Jersey.

A federal jury convicted Tate George on four counts of wire fraud last fall. Each count carries a maximum 20-year prison sentence..."

What a shame.

A terrible turn of events, and if true, a betrayal of the Huskies family...

What do you expect when you send a young innocent man to a place like New Jersey? When in Rome....

The stuff he is accused of is scumbag type stuff. Using his name and status to bilk that woman out of her small inherittance is unforgivable. Shame on him if he did that and I hope he gets his just deserts. He was one of my favorites, but I cannot stand when people take advantage of others just because they can.

Heard that the judge is going to sentence Tate to two years of having to share a hot tub with Chris Christie. Sans bathing suits.

A jury just said it was.

And I don't think any jury would have said it wasn't.

That first bit doesn't mean . But you are right about the second. I've defended Tate in the past, saying he was way over his head, but I was finally swayed to the 'scumbag move' side of the argument.

Well, gee, that's why I included the second line!
