He single-handily got us back in that game
I’m still a huge proponent of him as the starter and I’m a big Samson fan. The difference is that Reed will not be physically overwhelmed like Samson can be. Reed still represents a way we can change the team while staying the same. He’s also a guy who can help our offense because he can score 1-1 Samson Johnson is an incredible big off the bench. We won a championship with him in that role. Reed was the only player on the team that played great against St John's. We never tried Reed as a starter and I believe we can go up a notch with him as the starting 5

We have a nice combination but Samson actually blocked and held down Kalk last night. But at this point I’m willing to try anything that can make the team better. Anyone see Hurley trying this at this point in the season?

No way that I’ll watch again to verify, but I thought Reed was a big part of our 1st half deficit. He missed two offensive rebounds (one coming off the rim, another bouncing off his hands). He seemed as bad in the 1st half as he was good in 2nd. He was pinned to the bench for a reason.

That is not an effort that I call awesome. He needs to bring it all the time.

He’s our most dominant and talented player when he’s on and we let him grow dust on the bench. This is your 2025 UConn Huskies.

Let’s see if we can keep him.

It seemed like Creighton was doing whatever they wanted with Johnson in the game at the start of the second half. Reed entered too late. Overcoming a deficit against seasoned offensive team is not easily accomplished.

It is also unusual for UConn to be at a physical disadvantage at wing; that looked to be the case.

Yeah let’s point out the one guy that CAN rebound for “missing 2 offensive rebounds” when the guy that starts averages 5-6 less in more minutes. Please stop he got in foul trouble only reason he didn’t see more time first half. The only thing I know is he needs the ball thrown to him more!

Huge piece for next year.

I have noticed that Samson has changed his rebounding style in the past 4-5 games and now deliberately tries to tip it back to his teammates rather than corral them himself (Draymond does this a bunch in the NBA). I assume the staff coached this into him and it's been decently effective.

He didn’t do it all season he’s not gonna change it for the tournament
