Tarris Reed Jr Out vs Arizona

Wish it was that simple. Reed is probably the last guy we could lose for this game. Fans and next guy up is not going to will us to victory. Unless we hit a ton of 3s this will be a tough game to win.
Yeah love when the woodwork says “next man up” as if it’s a movie. Tarris was huge in this one - this will need to be a bit like Florida last year where we outscheme, stretch them out, but also get hot, and see an unsuspecting player or two play out of their mind.

Crowd and home court will be huge here.

I’m Not watching. It’s going to be a massacre. I’d rather rewatch the Duke/Kansas game from yesterday.
You people are something else. We beat Michigan St handily without Reed. Really don't see why we can't play with Arizona. Massacre, really?

Biggest key tonight is just having our bigs not give fouls away. A made basket is often better than them fouling with our lessened depth. I think they can be “ok” and hold the line for a game, they don’t need to do more than that and play outside of themselves. Doubt we see the Turkey kid, he’s not anywhere close to ready. Think we see some AK at the 5 if needed and some Furphy minutes to get some extra size out there on the wing.Going to need a huge shooting night & get this game into the 80s on offense, prolly our best chance to win is that way.

Is Furphy back?

Definitely the BYU game. I was there, saw it and saw the difference after he fell.

Suprising he can't just muscle this one out and then sit against Bryant. Throw some darned anti inflammatory in there. His presence alone would make a difference, totally different team without him.
Didn't look like he was cut out from below from the opponent (Robert Wright) but close. It could have been a lot worse. I think the announcers were talking about him landing on his tailbone, not his ankle. That he was going to be very sore the next day.

Ridiculous take. You have zero idea as to extent of the injury and it’s lame to suggest that Reed, who just came back from a different injury, doesn’t have sufficient grit to play.
Overstatement - but he played on it after the injury.

Did a single reporter ask Hurley about Reed during media availability yesterday? Seems kinda weird considering the shape we saw him in at the conclusion of the BYU game.

Krivas is very solid but he's not going to beat you by himself, he's not that type of player from all the games I've watched of his. The problem is the rebounding. Reed is UConn's best rebounder and Zona absolutely crashes the glass.
Yeah, Krivas is solid, but the offense doesn't go through him. The only thing is if he has Karaban guarding him 1v1, he can overpower Karaban and score near the basket kind of the way Kalkbrenner did last year a few times. And of course, the rebounding like you mentioned will require all 5 in a small lineup to chip in and snag the rebounding-no leaking out on fast breaks by the guards.

But he’s not a back to the basket type of big. They don’t rely on him to score We should be fine defensively. It’s not having Reed as a dump down option that scares me. And rebounding. Reibe has the ability
Reibe will be tested early and often. Good way for him to grow up in a hurry. This could help even more down the road.

Box out. Box out. Box out.

Y'all have no cajones. Next man #$k up. The crowd wills us to victory
That's the mentality I am sure the players will have. By no means is this game a forgone conclusion to a loss. UConn can do this, especially if Solo catches fire behind the arc. Here's hoping to the Basketball Gods that happens to Solo.

This will make it extremely difficult to win tonight. We are now decided underdogs. Fight the good fight. Hope for the best. They will really need the crowd tonight.

Good luck getting that attitude in this place after the game.

It's a goofy shtick that he does to make people forget that he wanted Hurley fired two weeks before they won the national championship. Just an absolute bozo.

What are you even a fan for? Moments like these are what athletes live for.

I would imagine that the team has been scheming and prepping to be without Tarris and know their roles, how important it’s going to be for 1-5 to hit the glass on EVERY possession, etc. Doesn’t mean it’ll be easier… but this being a surprise to us doesn’t mean it’s a surprise to the people who matter - the players and coaches.

Even more glad we’re at GP, let’s see if home court advantage + $2 beers can deliver a little much needed magic.
