I think his impact will be a lot more like Sanogo than Carlton, and I liked Josh alot!!
 
This was a good scouting report from last season (before his sophomore year). Pretty much nails all the things our staff looks for in a center, so I think we can chalk up his performance to Juwan Howard being one of the worst coaches in the country. Our staff is going to do great things for Tarris - there is unlimited potential here

I’m really excited to see what this guy will do in Storrs. A lot of the attention this offseason was rightfully on McNeeley / Mahaney, but I think Reed is also going to have a big impact next year.

Going back and watching his highlights from last season, offensively he has footwork and touch around the rim like Sanogo.

He also has a decent block rate with a quicker than expected jump and is a good rebounder.

Plus the guy committed like the first day our staff went out recruiting, knowing that he would most likely be coming off the bench this year. Guy obviously wants to be a part of something bigger than himself. That’s the type of guy who has helped us win the last 2 titles.

Can’t wait!

You can see the potential. The question is whether he can consistently do the little things to be part of a winning team (which Michigan clearly was not).

If he's a guy like Drummond -- and some of his critics compared him to a poor man's Drummond -- who has some major highlights amid mostly losing plays, that's not going to cut it. But I'm optimistic that our staff can put him in a position to succeed and coach the low-IQ plays out of him.

Don't kid yourself, Drummond was an amazing college and is very nice pro player.

If a senior center put up 10-7-2 in the loaded Big East, you’d never see these comments. It’s only because freshman Drummond wasn’t 2015 Anthony Davis people are so comfortable dissing him.

Those are amazing numbers, really?
 
Drummond walked onto the UConn campus and into the starting line up (30 0f 34 Games) of the defending national champions. He was an excellent rim protector blocking 2.7 shots a game. He scored 10 points and grabbed 7.6 rebounds in 29 minutes a game.

For reference, Clingan in his sophomore year (much better than his freshman year) had 2.5 blocks, 7.4 boards and and 13 points a games in 22.5 minutes.

So what did Drummond bring to the table? A lot.

Clingan was obviously (a lot) better than Drummond. But I wish the Drummond slander would stop on this board. He takes the brunt of the blame for the post championship disappointment.

It’s not his fault that he and Oriaki were just a horrible fit on the court together. That was a tough year for JC to figure out.

With how high he was ranked and how poorly we performed it’s justified. He wasn’t good.
 
that high school scouting report is interesting. there's cases of guys who were not in good situations in college but played up to their high school tape in the league, and this is the staff to unlock his considerable potential.

No, it’s not. He was a talented freshman and his numbers were fine. There will always be many who lived through that season that will believe that the team would have been better had he not showed up on campus and everyone else didn’t have to make adjustments to their game to allow him and Oriakhi on the floor at the same time for most of the game.

You want to say that wasn’t on Drummond but the coaches and other players? Not unreasonable. But he did not make the team better, and the goal of a basketball player should be to make the team better. Not put up 10, 7 and 2.
