Tarris Reed - 31 and 27. WOW

Great job Tarris for saving our asses. Man among boys

If our 3 point shooters can get their shots to hit with any consistency now, and with Tarrs we will be in very good shape. But we do need Silas to play too.

Tarris praising the voice of God inside his head might be too much of a distraction. And then there is Danny. Tarris, alone, is the force of nature.

That was actually comical. Even the crowd was laughing at the third OReb.
You don’t get 27 boards without the ball bouncing your way a lot! Don’t get me wrong: that was one of the best single-game of performances in the history of this program. And we would have lost without it.

Basically, we needed the 2nd coming of Toby Kimball to win the game. I like the historical aspect.

Not sure about that. Quality of opponent has to factor in to the numbers. And I’m not sure how you compare a point guard to a center for dominance, as the ways in which they dominate are totally different.

None of that subtracts from what was an utterly historically dominant performance last night.

Agree that positional comparisons are challenging since a PG does things a C doesn’t, and vice versa. Also, many impactful game attributes and traits are done away from the ball that many people may not notice.

Tarris’ performance was exceptional against Furman. He excelled in every aspect of the game and was the reason for our win. Should his performance be judged differently because it was against Furman? IMO no. He still made shots, rebounded, acted on instinct, played smart defense, etc.

To me, that was the best individual tournament performance ever by a Husky, regardless of position or opponent.

.-.
Last night showed how important Demary is to us.

Smith played admirably but also dribbled us into shot clock issues a few time and I really like Millender but watching him look over at Hurley for like 5 seconds each possession while being actively guarded was infuriating.
You’re infuriated by a guy who hasn’t played a single meaningful minute in over 2 months trying to make sure in a huge moment that he’s doing what the coach wants? If so, you have an anger issue.

It should be viewed in the context of what it was. We were down our do everything point guard and another important player (AK) and the team struggled tremendously. It was basically all Tarris with one other player helping him carry the load. It took an otherworldly performance from him to keep it from being one of our most embarrassing losses ever, that makes it an all-timer for me.

I meant AK was the only other player helping Tarris last night.

I dont think we should discount Furman. Furman belonged in the tournament and had enough juice to steal a victory against any other team. Our team was flat and needed an all time great performance from Tarris Reed.

A lot was left to be desired after last night's game. Everyone but Reed and AK need to show that they are not afraid of the big lights on Sunday. Reed and AK will continue to be the backbones in this tournament.

Not only did he just do something no other player has done in 48 years (since Elvin Hayes in 1968), but he also had 3 rebounds on the most important possession of the game.

Tarris brought his hard hat and came to play tonight. Thank God. Saved us from a momumental upset.

That is a straight MAN GAME. Great job Tarris!

I have been critical of Tarris so let me be equally complimentary - that was an incredible, season saving performance. Probably the most dominant game I’ve ever seen one Husky play. Hat’s off to that young man.

Situational awareness has nothing to do with skill or knowing the play. Dribbling a basketball while a defender is 5 feet from you and you are not looking at the defender AND are looking backward thereby actually making all 5 defenders AND your teammates invisible to you is ridiculous for any player on any team ever.

The Competition gets better his game will suffer especially when the lack of guard play is inconsistent as it’s been vs better Teams all year. That is when Teams will double him and you got nothing else..

Good player but lacks the size vs bigger frontcourts

He's 6-11 and 265 pounds. How many P5 players are that big? He doesn't lack size vs. bigger front courts.

And yet... the narrative is how UConn "Almost" lost this game.

Geez I hate the media. The anti-UConn bias is so obvious

You got a beef with God? You better get outta here, nobody wants that mojo!
