I've seen several posters in other threads refer to a lack of talent on this team and it just leaves me shaking my head. I can understand pointing to a lack of talent if we lost to Duke, Kentucky, Arizona, Kansas etc. but with five top 50 players and eight players in the top 100 we should be steamrolling teams like Wagner and Northeastern based off of talent. Instead we looked like the inferior team in both games. Here is the 247 ranking of our roster.

14, 23, 33, 34, 45, 77, 85, 92, 126, 166, 242

We have a lack of complimentary talent. We are weak on the outside shot and our inside bigs can't hit a layup but serve to clog the offensive lanes we we drive.

No excuse for losing to Wagner and Northeastern. Pathetic.

We're just totally discombobulated. First, there are very few screens being set. This effects driving, kick outs, open shots.

There are enough players on the team who should be able to hit open shots.

The announcer was right though that nothing is in rhythm.

They don't run an offense.

They can fix that though--but they can't fix the rebounding.

I think both of these teams will make a post season tournament.

Would Duke, KU, UK, UNC lost to these teams? No. Neither should we.

We're a better program than this.

Is anyone else concerned that a player of Gilbert's hype can't shoot or declines to take open 3's consistently? I mean, Geno's 5'8" guards can do it.

You're only as good as your record says you are.

Which is why I think Vital should get a chance to start.

Rome has history too.

Sure. Whatever. Enjoy sitting in your chair for the rest of this season telling yourself that everything will be okay and that next year will be better.

Alterique is the least of our problems. He has shown he can beat his man off the dribble pretty much whenever he wants.

Yeah, but short point guards guys need to be good at the foul line. He has had a tough time there.

No, we had a thread in the Spring that he can't shoot at one of his HS tournaments. The bigger challenge is the bigs are awful. 21 rebs & 11 points total for AB, Enoch and KF combined playing against players 6-8 and smaller.

They got 21 rebounds? How many by Brimah alone?

One thing in 4 years we haven't needed to worry about...Free Throw shooting. You going 10/10 from the line in your first two games as a freshman at Gampel? doubt it. Worry about us attacking the rim to get to the foul line. That's gonna be an issue all year

Doesn't make it acceptable to lose to them. Wagner will be a 15 or 16 IF they get in. Northeastern probably a 12-14 IF they get in.

I think it is clear Gilbert is going to be a very good player for us. He does make mistakes and needs to work on his shooting, but right now, him and Jackson should be the least of our worries.

We hit a reasonable amount of FTs last night and this is a different conversation. Too many 0-2s and missed front ends.

The problem comes when you focus all your recruiting focus and set your top priorities as PGs every year and neglect a front court. You guys think the front court is bad this year? Wait until next year, our staff really isn't prepared for the future right now, too busy with the current mess.

The #'s say talent but the proof is on the court. Wagner losing to Umass-Lowell by 9 is making my head spin. Are we really that bad right now , that's scary.

They lost to a hockey school. I guess we wore them out.

Wait, things could be worse. We could be a P5 school like BS College which lost to Nicholls State. Nicholls lost their next game 80-56 vs UCF. At least we're only in a mid major conference.
