UConn's Tage Thompson Drafted By St. Louis Blues At No. 26

Thompson becomes the 15th UConn student-athlete to be selected in the first round of a professional sports draft since 2014 in the NBA, NFL, WNBA, NHL, Major League Baseball, MLS and Canadian Football League.

The 15 combined selections in these seven leagues is the most combined of any school in the country. Kentucky and Notre Dame are tied for second with nine followed by Florida, Michigan State, Ohio State and Washington with eight each.

UConn is the only school in the country to have a first round pick in the NBA, NFL, NHL, WNBA, MLS and MLB since 2014.

Great accomplishment for the young (in terms of being in a top flight conference that Hockey East is) UConn ice hockey program. The stat about the 15 combined 1st round draft picks is also quite impressive, and speaks to the breath of UConn athletics accomplishments over a wide range of sports. And the 15 picks doesn't include a sport like field hockey where UConn is often in contention for the national championship.

He skated at their prospect camp last year. I'm not surprised they took him.

For Thompson and letunov, I've heard at least for this upcoming season(2016-2017). Not sure about others or if tage or max will still be around after that. Blues and Sharks will determine if and when they are ready to be called up to AHL based on when they sign their ELC (Entry Level Contract)

I'm not sure if max has actually signed an ELC with sharks, but the maximum allowable ELC salary for a player drafted until 2022 is $925,000
