More good news: taking over for Phil as the J-I's beat guy will be Neill Ostrout, the former Connecticut Post beat man. Neill's as solid as they get, and it'll be great to see him back on the beat, starting next week

Both guys are awesome, but FYI, Neil hasn't been at the Post since August. They replaced him with Kevin Duffy. He has been stringing for the Associated Press, but this is a great deal for him at the JI. Win-win for both guys, UConn and all of us.

I worked as a beat writer for several years alongside Neil and Phil. Phil was really the top of the food chain as far as writers covering men's hoops. He's a super nice guy and was always willing to help me out. Neil was also a real good guy, good for him. Phil will certainly be missed.
