Syracuse, N.Y. -- Syracuse just broke a 99-year record for the coldest Dec. 16.

The temperature at Hancock International Airport, the official weather station for Syracuse, hit 2 below zero over the last hour.

The record for Dec. 16 had been minus 1, set in 1917.

If this makes you feel any warmer, today's record low isn't even close to the coldest December day on record. That belongs to Dec. 20, 1942, when Syracuse hit 26 below zero.

Boy you can tell there's not a lot going on
A weather report from hell??????????????????????????????????????????

I clicked because I thought this was going to be a funny picture of Boeheim in the snow.

Shouldn't this thread be the Cesspool? I mean if you're gonna deny climate change, pointing out that it's cold in Syracuse is not exactly the best route to take. ;)

No one denies climate change, the climate changes constantly, silly boy. But the weather in Syracuse rarely changes in the winter, it's an ice box. Just a reminder that Syracuse is a terrible awful place, and that's in the summer. In the winter it gets really bad.

I don't agree with many of your views, Pal, but I know that you are smart enough to know that "Climate Change" is the (Frank) Luntz-ian translation for "global warming."

I mean it was 10 degrees in west hartford this morning so....CT weather sucks just as bad.

It was cold here, this morning, too.

65 degrees or so. It isn't supposed to get out of the mid 70s this afternoon.

I am thinking this is shaping up to be a cold winter.

I went to school up there. Not at Syracuse, of course -- blech -- but in central NY.

One winter day, having flown back into the Syracuse airport, I found my car in the parking lot covered in hard snow. I mean covered; I'm not sure how I even found my car. I had one of those mini-scrapers that's the size of a fly swatter and spent 5 of the coldest minutes of my life freeing my car.

On the way back to school, I stopped at an A&W. Trying to get back into the car, my key snapped in half.

Why I still live in the Northeast, I have no idea.

Here in Chicago yesterday saw a high of 9, warm up to the 20's today but Sunday is a high of -1 and low of -15.

It does help to explain why he shoves his finger so far up his nose... he's just trying to keep it warm.

Syracuse has an airport named Hancock and a former player named BJ Johnson.

Well he is clearly build for the Syracuse cold. Those nares can take quite a bit from his finger. Big nostrils good for air warming and humidifying.

Hey whoever invented the term "climate change" was brilliant. Global warming faded away so let's call it climate change and it covers everything!
