Nice job competing after looking completely outclassed early. Need a better QB and a better pass rush to win games like this. JF looked like an FCS QB today. Really disappointed in the lack of accuracy. Missed several would be touchdown passes.

On the plus side the tackling this season is light years ahead of previous seasons. Big ups to whomever is responsible for that.

Rankings wise this was the best team on our schedule and while for the first quarter it looked a lot like the Maryland game by the end they looked like they belonged.

Task now is not to backslide next season which has been the program's history.

Go beat UMass and for an 8 win season.

We are headed in the right direction. We need far better QB play (Welliver), more and better players in a few areas, more speed on defense and a bit more muscle on both lines of scrimmage.
This game was largely about QB play.,

I still think Fagnano was the right call. We lost by 7.

That was my predication that if he started, we would have a shot - and we did.

But I‘d wouldn’t be entirely honest if I didn’t say I was disappointed with his play. Mostly, he had the time, and consistently missed open receivers.

I am feeling anything after this game other than we had a GOOD season, no great, but good. I am accepting this and let’s move on to UMass.

We have a pretty solid team. We definitely need an A grade QB and some pass rushers, and better DBs. LBs, DL run, are pretty drab good. Oline is strong, RBs are strong, and receivers are decent.

Can’t complain about where we are. Just need to take the next half step to get over the hump to a mid- level P4 quality.

I do think that the take away is that we can compete against P4 teams. If we are in a conference and, thus are able to recruit a slightly better level of athlete and get jobbed less by the refs, we compete comfortably.

Rome wasn't built in a day. We're progressing, frustratingly slow sometimes, but definitely headed in the right direction.
Yes, that sums it up. We did get hosed but can’t pin the loss of that - this goes w/ territory vs ACC. I never thought I’d be so appreciative of refs in the AAC - they seem to simply call the game. ACC, Buckle up for at least 3 head scratching calls or no- calls.

I give props to Syracuse. The QB and receiver play was next level - the receivers held onto the ball after taking some legal but vicious hits.

It is was a good win for them and if ever a loss wasn’t one to dwell on - this was one.

I like playing Syracuse - their fans can trash talk us all day long but that was a good football game against two teams that didn’t seem all that far apart. A perfect game for them really and for us some disappointment for today at least.

Took too long for JF to figure it out today. Think it wasn't until the 3rd quarter where Bell told him to take about 10 mph off the fastball and just hit his spots.. and then he fired 2 more to other receivers after that for drops. Then he finally settled down.

Cuse's receivers were very good and McCord was hitting all his spots. Said earlier in the week, the couple times I watched him, when he had time he just carved up secondaries. We were within a score or two all game, it seemed like we really abandoned the run.. then would run a stretch to the short side of the field and get bottled up and revert back to trying to throw it.

I'm good with this take. Didn't see the game. Forgot about it until 2... whoops. Other things going on

UConn offensive play calling should be under the microscope a bit.

4th and 2 and you heave up a moon ball 30 yards up field - that’s the play call??????

And when you are getting killed in Time of possession why all the passing in the 2nd half?

When you have a team like we have - good but not great - you simply can’t make mistakes like this an expect to win. The most frustrating part of it is this was under our control.

McCord throwing balls like Tom Brady. His receivers snatching balls down like they want to play on Sundays and we still had a shot…

I still can’t believe we did….. And the OC calling a rainbow pass on 4th and 2, was the worst play call I’ve seen in quite some time.

The ’Cuse fans can’t accept we played a good game - it was all UConn garbage talk.

I would have loved it if the OC has brought his A game today.

I've never watched a football game in my life but my take is that we were outclassed. They had a bunch of explosive plays. We missed a lot tackles. We had a bunch of three and outs. Their QB started 10-10. Our QB started by throwing a bunch of passes into the ground. When he stopped throwing into the ground he missed many open receivers. We hung on by our fingertips. It seemed like they were on the verge of blowing us out for 60 minutes. But we were a gritty bunch and never let them get out of sight.

Really sad that we lost to every p4 team we played. Dang, not even one.

But we are on the friggin way. Haven’t felt this excited about an upcoming portal season ever. UConn bout to be a problem in FBS and I can’t wait.
Sad? We’ve competed with every P4 team we’ve played except Maryland. We’re not supposed to win these games right now. Level the playing field via NIL support and continued talent upgrade and we will win these P4 games. Give to Bleeding Blue for Good.

Sorry to be a glass half empty guy but I was very disappointed with this loss. It would have been sweet to finish 8-4 and say we beat a P4 conference team. Especially cuse who I hate. 8-4 is nice but our schedule was a joke
Wish they would have won but I’m hardly disppointed. I’m energized by the way they competed. Cuse has more talent across the board.

”out classed? “ If you mean Syracuse has more talent then you’re right. That said, they competed to the very last second and belong on the field with Syracuse.

Well played game today. You guys are much better than last time I watched you during the Edsall years. 8-4 is a great year I think most fanbases would buy at the start of the season if given the chance.

Agree about the QB and D-line. Seems like Stafford is very quiet this year compared to last year, as is the entire D-line. I realize there is a new DC and a new scheme this year, but we've had some very good D-linemen the past few years -- Fatukasi, Watts, Jones. No one is standing out this year.

Riding shotgun on a rainy NYS Thruway in Utica, some of my takeaways:

- this was an absolute disasterclass by the secondary, McCord is obviously a talented QB but his receivers were very wide open on almost every pass play. I’m not sure MDW playing in the first half would have changed this

- Fagnano probably did better than Evers would have (especially on the last first half and backdoor cover drives) but the consistent accuracy just isn’t there. Too many balls low/behind WRs

- I’m overall happy with Sammis at OC but those 3 passes that went nowhere after Mel’s almost TD run was Charlton-level playcalling. Running is our strength and it didn’t get established enough early beyond Cam’s huge TD run

- Louis Hansen keeps being underutilized in the pass game

- This team clearly has the talent to hang with mid to lower P4s, give me one of them over a G5 in a bowl

- Please go up to Amherst after your Thanksgiving/Black Friday festivities, it would be great to take over the UMass junkyard (emphasis on “junk”)

- Cuse spent how many millions on renovations and still has trough potties and the circular sinks with foot pedals? No more complaints about the Rent for a while please lmao

First half was a story of poor coverage, bad tackling and inaccurate passes by our QB. Second half we got better but the dropped INT, poor deep throws, the missed defensive holding/PI call on third down when we passed to Bell, Barron's trip up of Brown and the chance for #21 to get the onside kick. Cam Edwards is a real warrior for us. Our pass pro was good enough to win. No matter which QB starts next week we have to be better at placement of our deep throws. Missed a number of chances today with the wideout having to wait for the throw or it being right at the sideline and uncatchable. Hit our receivers in stride Please! The plays are there to be made. Sammis had a headscratcher on 4th and 2 but overall he had us play to win and not just survive.

Hard to schedule a lot of good teams as an indy. Notre Dame can, but how many teams catty their cache? Massive improvement even with two SU touchdowns talen off the board due to penalties. No room for UCONN to bitch about ACC refs. UCONN needs two things, more games against decent P4 teams and to fill Renschler Field. Should try and play SU, BC, Pitt, West Virginia and 3 or four other P4 games a year. Maybe even 1 real good one.
