After peeking under the orange covers for several months, Doyle's hightailing it out of not so lovely Syracuse back to a great city, much better university, and much B1Gger athletic program. Not so hard to challenge such a well-reasoned career and family decision, but you have to feel for Baber, a Doyle-hire and quality person.

.-.
Did not AD Dave spend 3 years at Minnesota ? Wonder if He applied for that job ? Once again B1G /P5 money will pick smaller schools apart.

Benedict was Deputy Athletic Director at the University of Minnesota from 2012-2014..

Hard to believe someone would leave one of the preeminent athletic departments in the country for...........Minnesota........hmmmmm

Almost doubling AD salaries? Damn. That new TV contract is already paying off.

Minneapolis is a great city... Great theater, sports facilities (with the exception of where the Gopher's play basketball), restaurants and night life. Probably less snow than Syracuse..

It's the danger we have sitting in G5 land as well. B1G schools can triple the salaries of our best employees.

I've always felt like their hoops arena reminded me of McDonald's playgrounds

The press release said it was for family reasons; which is very understandable. Those reasons:
1) Double the money
2) 4x better city

I know my family would consider those prime reasons.

Shi^t the bed on the golf course today and my nuts now hurt for no apparent reason as I watch TV.

What pizza place is this post about?

I think that will be very easily rectified....

Probably not immediately. The idiot former AD gave Pitino an extension that would now cost the school $7 million if they were to can him this offseason. Coupled with the fact that they are at the back of the line in the hiring carousel buys Pitino one more year. If they have another rough season I'd be surprised if Pitino makes it to the end of the year.

The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Ah didn't realize. When I read how much he was spending on private jets and such I thought they'd just go for termination with cause.

Same said idiot former AD also approved that private jet useage.

Anyone surprised that a spawn from Rick Pitino would end up like this? It'd be the same as hiring the bastard son of Bobby Petrino and wondering where it all went wrong.

ha...'The Barn' certainly is unique...old time benches that sit below the floor.

Unique? Nope, not even unique within the same conference.
You are correct in that regard...but have you ever seen the outside / inside of that place? Not too many places that old are still in use... Originally built in 1928..

Yes, and kind of like structures with some history and character versus the latest throwaway clone. Alas your prior message highlighted unique benches that sit below the floor. For whatever reason, Purdue has a similar quirky, below floor seating arrangement. Even more bizarre, Vandy has benches below the floor AND behind the baseline.
