Nan has included an article about the North Carolina leader under "today's newslinks" as
she is on the eve of her HOF induction. The testimony of her former players
is reminiscent of the affection our ladies feel for Geno. Nice stuff...and congratulations,
Coach.

I had seen that. And it is true of most coaches - Vivian's former players speak very highly of her, look at the affection that Kay Yow engendered, many of Pat's former players.

There are likely always some that - for whatever reason - might have been unhappy in a program or with a coach (hence, now-a-days, transfers), but over the years so many women credit their coaches with so much that it is great to see.

Congrats to Sylvia! I've always liked her, in spite of her unfortunate fashion sense...

Interesting that both Sylvia Hatchell and Dawn Staley were hoored last night at the Mohegan Sun Arena.

BTW: The Springfield Republican reported a few days ago that Pat was to be the presenter for Sylvia.
As I understand it, the inductee needs a present HOF'er to do the honors. But over the weekend the paper said that
Pat was unable to come due to health reasons.

BTW#2: When [not if] Dee, Sue, Rebecca, Tina, Maya plus a couple of our current players [!!] go in the HOF, I would
guess that Geno will have several speeches to write.

Actually, the presenters at the Springfield HOF don't say anything, they just stand there.

Vivian's presenter also wasn't present (John Cheney, stuck in traffic) so she was presented by Anne Meyers and I think Lynette Woodard.

At the Women's HOF, the presenter speaks, although on-tape I believe.

Incidentally, she was presented by Nancy Lieberman and Hubie Brown.

For all the grief that Sylvia gets about her fashion (non)sense, I thought
she looked entirely presentable in basic black.

Geno won't be allowed to talk? That's a challenge more difficult than winning #9.

Other than during a brief stint when UConn was rebuilding its program post-Diana, UNC's teams have been a joke compared to Geno's. What's worse is Hatchell has made lame excuses for it. Saying genuinely nice things about her might be more challenging for Geno than fielding and coaching a national-championship-caliber team himself. Add questionable recruiting tactics from last year, including with players Geno was recruiting as well, and I'd be even more surprised to see him honor Hatchell.

If might apply to Ms Lobo as a player.
