Based on her parents both "playing the game" as stated in the article I think we have a good chance because we always had former players and their kids interested in us. With currently Strong and Aubrey (Gigi should be here too, may she rest) we have a current streak of recruiting players whose parents played professionally.

Even as a freshman, it seems crystal clear that the "Bean" is the real deal......she would be a great addition to UConn......:)

With UCONN's track record of Canadians Kia Nurse and Aaliyah Edwards and relatively close distance to Ontario (I can't think of any top US women's basketball program that is closer), I think we have a good shot with her.

This is nice. One of my players follows Sydney on the "Gram" and spoke highly of Sydney. I got to watch some of Sydney's summer games and she is a skilled player. High Bball IQ player. Her mom played here in Minnesota back in the early 2000s.

I hope we break out the best of everything on this unofficial visit.

Excellent article. Sydney looks to be a once in a lifetime Prodigy and may even reach 6'9" by the time she is ready for college. The article said she was a 2028 prospect. That means GENO has a shot at her before he retires,BUT , he might coach even longer by extending his contract after this one If she comes to UCONN.. I am 91 and I expect to live to see GENO fulfill his 5 year extension and hope I see this fabulous recruit come to UCONN. I will pray.

What's odd about Sydney though, is she's 16 and a freshman. At least according to her FIBA Basketball profile she was born Sept 16 2008. If true she'll be 19 as a senior. Also listed as 16 on some USA basketball sources.
I'm not saying she won't be great, but she maybe wouldn't be as dominant if she was playing against players her age.

She's probably done growing if she is 16.

That weekend is the MLK weekend. She mentions Sunday. We have a home game at 1:00
that day against Seton Hall....in Storrs. I'm assuming SNY will televise...maybe the camera will
find her on occasion. It's a long trip...might she be visiting other schools as well? Her comments do elicit
some smiles about our chances.

With unofficial visits, would the UCONN WBB staff be informed she was coming? Not Sure how this works. Or is she just exploring campus?

....89: They would know...for sure. Also...for sure [imo]... they will have a plan
to present to Bean [and her parents...I hope they come as well]...they will throw
their best pitch even though it is way early in the process.

There "seems" to a bit of urgency in Bean's words...as in 'if some school seems
utterly right for me...I might say 'yes'...I'd rather my decision to come sooner and
be able to concentrate on other things.

Like anything else associated with the NCAA, reading the rules regarding official vs unofficial visits for D1 women’s basketball will make your eyes glaze over. Yes, the wbb staff / athletic department will be notified of the visit. In most cases the process starts with a telephone call initiated by the student athlete to determine a mutually acceptable date for the visit. There are limitations/prohibitions regarding communications so a phone call from the student athlete is the usual start to the process. Also, there are date limitations or “dead periods” regarding when communications are permitted.

Even during dead periods, most communication is still allowed. Coaches can still email or text or talk on the phone with recruits. The only limitation is that there can be no face-to-face contact.

This is different from quiet periods, Weir face-to-face contact is allowed on the schools campus.

Have Bean wondering what was up with her.
I, also, have been wondering what was up the beanpole.
My guess that it will be a ' "JACK"=pot! '
Have a nice visit to Storrs, Sydney! My prognostication is
Huskies > Pirates. ENJOY your visit!
