NEW YORK, NY – MAY 24, 2016 – The New York Liberty has signed free agent forward Swin Cash to a rest of season contract, it was announced today by team President Isiah Thomas.

Cash was waived by the Liberty on May 11 in order for the team to meet its WNBA salary cap requirements. Per league rules, New York was required to wait a minimum of 10 days before Cash was eligible to re-sign with the team.

“It’s wonderful to finally be back on the court with my teammates,” said Cash. “I feel great physically and I’m looking forward to contributing to this young team, both on and off the court. As one of the charter teams of the WNBA, which is celebrating its’ 20th Anniversary, I think it’s going to be a great year for the New York Liberty and I’m happy to be part of that!”

A great fit. Coach Bill will value her experience, and task her with being a bench coach. She's also great fodder for the NYC media, being so well spoken and having the great camera presence that she has.

Nice resume!!

She ranks in the top-20 in WNBA history in nearly every major statistical category, and is currently 7th all-time with 448 games played and 12,849 in minutes. Cash is 14th in league history in scoring, as she closes in on 5,000-career points, currently sitting at 4,955.

Additionally, Cash is 10th all-time in rebounding (2,416) and 15th in assists (1,090). She boasts career averages of 11.0 ppg, 5.4 rpg, and 2.4 apg.

A three-time WNBA Champion (2003, 2006, 2010) and four-time WNBA All-Star (2003, 2005, 2009, 2011), Cash has also won two Olympic gold medals with the U.S. Women’s Basketball National Team (Athens 2004, London 2012).

Welcome back, Swin!

Any young lady looking for a "role model", be she athlete or not, need look no further than Swin Cash. Swin is the epitome of style, grace and professionalism on and off the court. Swin continues to be an ambassador for UConn (and the WNBA) by showcasing the personal and professional characteristics that the program endeavors to instill in its players. Her long and illustrious WNBA career has allowed her an avenue to meet and interact with many young athletes that admire her, and her WNBA peers. I look forward to watching Swin go about her business this WNBA season. The Liberty's overall optimism for the season just got a little brighter today. Welcome back Swin. Life is good. :)

And she is playing right now!

But............unfortunately, the Liberty lost to the Atlanta Dream a moment ago in over time 85-79. The two leading scores in the game..........both UConn products. Tiffany Hayes poured in 27 points for the Dream, while Tina Charles chipped in 29 /10 for the Liberty. Cash added 6 points in 14 minutes of play. Stokes had 5 points and 7 rebounds in 22 minutes of action for NY.

Nice game for her - but monster game for Hayes and Charles. Tina had a legit chance for a quadruple double - 29 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists, 7 steals, and 2 blocks...

And Hayes also had a DD - 27, 11, 3, 2, and 2 blocks including a master stuff of Charles late in the game!
Between them Uconn ended up with 67 points, 30 rebounds, 12 assists, 11 steals, 7 blocks in 117 minutes - 41% of the points, 31% of the rebounds, 36% of the assists, 46% of the steals, and 44% of the blocks, in 26% of the minutes. They also shot .524/.500/.792 while the rest of the players shot: .268/.091/.763.

NY is really missing Cappy - they are having a really hard time scoring from the perimeter, especially down the stretch.

Can you say FIFTEEN! - slightly more than 10% of the WNBA rosters are now Uconn grads!

Is there a web page that tracks, quantifies, the WNBA players by college? Curious. Thanks for keeping track!
