Thanks for putting this all together.
I really think the UCLA vs Texas game is going to be a barn burner. Two very athletic & long teams, that are peaking right now. I will also be intrigued by Louisville vs Stanford. OSU has the biggest challenge of the PAC12 teams in the next round. Baylor has a great combination of BIGs and quick/fast guards/wings. It would be Rueck's finest moment if his kids pull this one off.

Sweet 16 Results from the field of 64 (by P5 conference):
BIG10: 0 of 6 teams advance
SEC: 4 of 8
ACC: 4 of 8
BIG 12: 2 of 4
PAC12: 4 of 6

Shout out to MAC with 2 teams in the Sweet 16

Can't forget UCONN which may have to play their starters for at least 2 quarters next game.

UCLA and Texas played a closed-door preseason scrimmage at a neutral site, and rumor had it that Texas dominated it. But this will be a very intriguing matchup.

Oregon vs. Central Michigan should be entertaining. Should be fast tempo with lots of points scored.

Wow no respect for the MAC? .

I think the pictures of the players from the two teams from the conference that made it into to the Sweet 16 smiling, is the best example of " Mac and Cheese".

The other telling thing is that they were all higher rated teams than the ones that beat them.
They were all rewarded with high ratings . LSU was their lowest rated team at 6. They highest rated team anyone from the SEC played was a #5 DePaul and # 4 TA&M only beat them by 1 point on a game ending 3pt shot.

I do think it was 3 out of 7 not 8. I looked and could not find an 8th team.

MARCH 23 @KC
#4 Miss St vs #21 NC St, 7 pm

#8 Texas vs #9 UCLA, 9 pm

UGH! Friday is my bowling night. I was so hoping NC State/Mississippi State would be the second game so I could be home to watch it. Guess I'll set the DVR and hope ESPN broadcasts the game in my area. With the men's Sweet 16 on at the same time, I won't have to worry about them broadcasting the Wolfpack Women at the bowling center to ruin the suspense. (There are TV screens between every other pair of lanes). But I know I'll be distracted this Friday, wondering in the back of my mind what is going on in Kansas City.

  1. Baylor vs Oregon St
  2. ND vs TAMU
  3. Texas vs UCLA
  4. Louisville vs Stanford
  5. Miss St vs NC St

1. I think Baylor overwhelms Oregon ST with their size and wins easily
2. I think ND limits Carter and wins by 15-20
3. I think this game has all the makings of a great game because both teams match up pretty well with each other. In the end I think Texas pulls out a win due to their size.
4. I think Stanford makes this a lot closer than most think but Louisville pulls away late for a 10-15 pt win
5. I think MSU is due for a good game and I am not sold on NC St. MSU wins easily by 15-20

I also think Buffalo will give SC all they can handle but Wilson will be the deciding factor and SC will dominate the paint to win by 15-20

Central Michigan will also play Oregon tough but in the end Ionescu and Hebard will prove to be too much for the Chippewas.

Great post and thanks as its so clear and concise.
To me, it shows a few things. One is that there is clearly becoming more competition in women's college basketball as there have been a good # of upsets.
What is also clear is none of the top 9 teams have lost, at least so far. Of the next ten (10-19) seven have lost. It also demonstrates the remaining gap between the top programs and the next tier.
I think we will see similar results as the tournament proceeds. I expect the top six to live up to their expectations. So yes, it's also better that maybe six teams can compete for a NC.
I also believe there is a gap still, even though U Conn lost last year, between U Conn and everyone else.
Thanks again for the post!

ND?!
Oregon was en fuego in the opening rounds and now they'll be playing in front of a partisan crowd. ND is the #1 most at risk IMO.

Vowelguy:
Oregon went for 88 and 101 in the first two rounds and was, as you put it, "en fuego."
ND scored 98 and 99, so it's safe to say they were doing the same.

And thanks to McGraw's Bench "Domerduck," who will be attending the regional, Oregon is -- at best -- a 7 1/2 hour drive from Spokane. I'm not saying the Dukcs won't have more fans there than any of the other teams (not saying much given where the other teams are coming from), but it won't be like playing on its home "treecourt."

This situaion is a good example of why MM took the Irish on a nearly 10-game road/neutral court road trip early in the season. It won't bother them. Plus, I think you'll see green shirts that have an Irish tint, as well. ;)
