I'm calling this one early in the 2nd quarter...Va Tech will be lucky to score 10 points. Can somebody tell me exactly how this 6-6 school with a looooooooooong history of bowl games tell me why they are a top football school that gets overrated year after year???

Beamer might have taken them as far as they can go. I think ODU's potential is insane. If we're stuck in this conference for a while, let's invite UMass (for a rivalry) and ODU down the road.

I think OC Brock needs to consider putting Dodd in the game. Nova is fading quickly!!!

i like the vpi helmets with the pic of diarrhea on both sides. odu has good potential but tehy will top out in a mac type conf. vpi is a solid school with great fball. they are a good add for any conf between fanbase, school, recruiting, tv etc. the next coach there will turn them into a power that beamer seems to struggle to get over the hump constantly.

rutgers sucks as we all know. they had a extremely easy schedule and its showing vs a crappy acc team. both sucked this year and neither is better than the other. fsu and clemson this year are 1 and 2 in my mind. then every big east and the 2-10 teams in the acc are all tied for 3rd place. they are all this year. its really that simple. vt gets beat by pitt, uconn takes down lville, temple beats uconn and so on down the line. every team was blah this year between the 2 leagues but fsu and clem are just a bit better. not much. but they are and thats why big east vs acc perception is what it is. sucks. before a ruty fan comes here to spread red joy, what i'm saying is every team in the 2 confs sucked accept for fsu and clem who were 15-25ish teams. i think you could rank the rest of the acc and the whole big east between 30-50. they are all close but all not great teams. everyone has some issues and some bright spots.

sorry to see harrison end his night like that. i think rutgers traveled well fwiw. jesus rutgers can't give this game away lol.

im actually not a huge fan of the helmets rutgers is wearing 2night design wise. but i would wear those any day over the same boring helemt we wear. we literally just can't get out of our own way in storrs. i think vpi would be cool shit if they did turkey feathers on the unis like oragon does duck....2 cents

.-.
Yep no difference between Cincinnati and Louisville or Boston College and USF. Almost no way to tell them apart.

Too bad Rutty's kicker has a 40 yd range. They can't even advance the ball 2 yds.

I feel like I lost 10 years of my life watching this shit. But the optimist in me says that if these two piss poor offenses could be in a bowl game, maybe we have a shot at one next year.

Gotta love how RU continues to choke away meaningful games. Geez, they really are the Cubs of college football.

Meaningful is a stretch but that was terrible. Rutgers and that game in general.

Will someone please link the comment from yesterday's Cincy/dook game thread where a wise sage astutely observed that anyone could make a killing financially betting against Boneyard first comments/predictions? Right on point again.

that was a good quote from whaler. but if u read my thread pre game u would have made the $ also.

That says more about CUSA than ODU.
You do know Norfolk tried to lure an NBA team? ODU's season tickets sold out at the FCS level. Even had to refund some deposits.

ODU has the potential to weaken UVA, VT and UNC by taking players who those programs use to build depth. And much like Uconn in Ct, there's no other game in town to compete against.

The Hampton Roads area regularly sends 25-35 kids a year on BCS scholarships, several of whom are 4/5 star kids that can play anywhere.

I've always advocated Uconn staying active in this area and Marriner is a good pick up for this year's class.

I understand that it feels good to see empty seats at these bowls but if anyone thinks we'd draw better they're crazy. Fact is there are only a few BCS schools (if that) that we travel better than.

Fact.

I don't believe that to be true... But since it can't be proven either way, (other than anecdotally) it's a moot point to argue it.

Assume?

Are you talking travek to Bowl games or away football games in general?
Bowl games we don't have the loyal fan base that schools who have been playing for 100 years. That is something that needs to be built over time

Sad to say, but this scene reminds me of too many games at the Rent the last couple years.....and in not-so-unsimilar game situations.

Guess we need something around here to chuckle at though (no sarcasm). RU choking in a big spot always provides.

Bowl games

I have a friend (I know, I know) that works for one of the travel companies that the Universities use for travel packages to Bowl games (and other away games). He says UConn represents very well in comparison to other schools. I realize you tried to limit sample size to BCS as opposed to FBS.

Again... Anecdotal.

Based on what you see so far this year pretty much no one traveled anywhere. Honestly other than the Pinstripe Bowl, I probably wasn't going anywhere either. Just got a text from a friend at Pinstripe Bowl - it's about as miserable as it looks on TV to be there.
