KML broke the record in 2015 and finished her UCONN career with 398. In the last 3 years she went from having the record as of 2017 to dropping all the way down to 9th. 8 people have broker her mark in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Kind of a crazy stat. For a comparison, on the men's side JJ Redick famously set the record in 2006 and held it for 8 years, yet still is 3rd all time 14 years later.

Wow, that's kinda crazy. I guess an indicator of how big of a part of the game the 3 point shot is becoming in recent years.

I noticed a month or so ago that KML had dropped down the list. Lots of gunners out there. Does anyone above her have a comparable shooting percentage? Kelsey Mitchell did not.

According to wikipedia #4 Darby Maggard from Belmont (430 made) hit 43.1% and currently active #9 Rachael Childress from UAB (400 and counting) is at 42.6%. Those are both comparable to KML (44.7%; 398 made).

edit--Taylor Robertson from Oklahoma is on pace to go well over 400, she's at 221 and counting as a soph. Might not catch Mitchell but she'll move well up the list if she stays on the same pace. Hit around 46% as a Fr. and 43% this year.

Same thing is happening in the NBA, as emphasis is placed on shooting and spreading the floor. Ironically, given the emphasis of getting “bigs” by some on the board, the NBA is moving away from traditional centers and towards multiple wings.

If I had my choice, I’d prefer a BIG, who could also shoot the 3. Thinking Kevin Durant or Stewie in the women’s game.

Except that NBA wings are 6'9" and can touch their chins to the rim.

1. The game is developing better shooters
2. Offenses are better designed to free up shooters
3. Long range shooting is a more accepted part of the game.

Thanks! Maggard and Childress are in the same ballpark as Kaleena, but 1.6 and 2.1 percentage points lower. Robertson, on the other hand, could finish at 45%.
