Green Bay held off Wright State in OT, and FGCU, Wichita State, and James Madison all won their tourneys, probably helping Tulane's chances for an NCAA selection as a third AAC team, with Creme even moving the Green Wave up to the next-to-last team in and relegating Miami to the last spot.

Sadly, the Huskies of Houston Baptist came up a little short in the Southland tourney and their season is over.

Bummer for HBU. But congrats to GB-W. They played a very weak schedule - the only team of note they beat was Purdue, when the boilermakers were actually ranked. But I thought they played UCONN hard and are well coached. They play good fundamental basketball. And hopefully good news for Tulane. Would love to see 3 teams get in from our conference.

By certain accounting you can push the number up to 10 if you say teams that were ever in the Big East.

UConn, ND, Louisville, Rutgers, DePaul, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Seton Hall, and yes, Miami.

Again, assuming Creme's picks are right.

Green Bay will be one of the teams I hope will do well in the tourney. Tesha Buck is the only Native American star player that I know of. She had a great game yesterday. Last year she had a sub-par game in the Horizon tournament. I think it was because a girl from the other team blew out her knee when Buck was guarding her. Tesha seemed to get shaken by that.

I was at the James Madison win yesterday. They had a pretty big crowd come to support them. Kinda strange that almost all of them had grey hair. The exceptions were parents bringing their young daughters to see the game. The freakin' lights went out for about a half hour in the second half and Hofstra seemed to lose their momentum after that.

I'll be going to either Maryland's host games or Princeton's if they let them host. Maybe both places.

There's actually a fair number of Native American players in the WCBB now because basketball is sort of like Texas's Friday night football on many of the reservations. Shoni Schimmel helped draw huge NA crowds to Louisville last year, and sister Jude is still there as the PG. Abby Scott of New Mexico State is another one who will be in the Tourney.
