I knew the streak was going to end but last night's loss looked pretty bad to me. For the first time, I noticed a lack of fire and enthusiasm. Another winnable game wasn't. Chiney looked kinda lost out there and failed to get to double figures for the first time. I don't know if its the mental aspect of injuries (Alyssa was wearing a protective face mask, Kelly F still heavily bandaged, despite her good game KT looked very sore toward the end, Danielle still out and in a cast). Whatever. Now a home and home with a tough Tulsa team... 9 of the next 11 on the road... gotta try for .500 down that stretch but it really going to be tough.

They've already overperformed in my book. This was to be the classic rebuilding year, with an extremely youthful team. To be flirting with .500 ball and the top half of the league was beyond any wild expectations. Look how many predictions showed them for dead last. Even if their youth is now coming back to bite them, it's more likely they'll get a lottery pick via the Liberty rather than their own. In two years this will be a VERY good team; imagine if that lottery pick turns into KML. Don't forget, they still have Chelsea Gray waiting in the wings, while Chiney, Alyssa and Alex develop.

Not to mention the Liberty's #1 draft pick next spring.

I did not notice any lack of effort last night. In fact I was impressed by their comeback from 12 points down in the third quarter to getting within 2 near the end and making several crucial 3's in the final minutes.

Katy Douglas is a great floor leader in the mold of Jennifer Rizzotti. She may be a great coach someday soon.

Incredible!

Meanwhile:
1. There is no chance of my watching the replay of the Atlanta-Indiana game where the two teams shot a combined 36%(48-134) while shooting a combined 4-27 from three. The Schimmel boosters here have a lot of splaining/spinning to do.
2. Tina's matchup against Courtney Paris is certainly a favorable one. My understanding is that New York's slow start is attributable to them learning the nuances of the triangle offense. If last night's game is an indication of the nuances sinking in, the Liberty may well be the team to beat in the East going forward.
3. Phoenix is going to be a tough out in the West.
4. If Chicago could get/stay healthy...They put up 90 points with Vandersloot and Delle Donne sidelined.
5. If a basketball team does not play good defense, is it the players' fault or the coach's fault?

Very hard to watch play under this coach. IMO, it looks like a pick game...........This team looks dead and the attitude of the players on the bench makes my point.......Like, where are we going after the game look...........Chiney looks like she has hit the WNBA wall..........

They seemed to be OK when I watched them play Washington last week but Meeseman had a career game.

Just need to get used to playing road games.

So is it OK to go back to complaining about Ann Donovan again?
