Predictions?

I'm going to optimistic and go with Sun by 5 IF:

  • Someone (probably White or Montgomery) can step it up and provide another deep threat;
  • Sun can avoid getting outrebounded
  • The big 3 play BIG for the full 40

If the Sun can't start finishing around the basket... they are DONE. Even if KT doesn't return.

Fever came ready to play. Sun not so much. Sun in BIG trouble. Down 13 and getting blown off their own court. Bummer for them. I think they thought this was their year...

No poise being shown by the Sun. A golden opportunity could slip away if they don't turn this around.

Fever 6 for 6 from 3... Looks a lot like the regular season blowout... I feel sick. :( Sun have dug a deep hole.

Doesn't look like they are going to turn it around... Down almost 20 in the 2nd quarter. Maybe try playing a little defense? Yikes!!! Oh well. There's always next year...!

LOL at the Fever blowing the Sun out with no Katie Douglas.

Pretty much what you'd expect from a Thibault team, though.

Disappointing. It's like there's a lid on the basket.

I'm playing computer games and watching out of the corner of my eye. No amazing turnarounds so far.

Please explain how the coach is responsible for player missing shots they made all year. How is he responsible for the Fever shooting 3s at a higher percentage than they do in shoot-around.

Thibault is the best coach in the league in my opinion. He's taken basically the same team from 2010 and improved it by eight wins.

Well, this is anti-clamactic.

Let's go Lynx, I guess.

His teams never win big games. Ever.

He's won the league with different rosters, different All-Stars, different superstars - you name it - yet the Sun ALWAYS choke when it matters most. He's the only thing that hasn't changed.

After awhile it stops becoming a coincidence.

game planning, maybe? or maybe not pushing the right buttons (either personnel or personal) at the right time? inspire them to get through a tough game 2 so they aren't in this position? dunno. i for one am just a fan, not a coach, don't pretend to be, but i tend to agree, and just because you cannot say what exactly you would have done differently doesn't mean you are a "hater". it's the coach's job to figure out what to do, and the fact is that it does seem that the Sun cannot get over the hump for him. maybe unfair to expect that this year, but... as we know, there are coaches who are like that. depends on if you want a good regular season coach, or one that can get you the championship.

having said that, i have seen some of my favorite teams drop such a coach, and then spend lots of years wandering the desert of mediocrity (or worse), without so much as a whiff of chance at a championship. so you takes your chances if you ditch him. be careful what you ask for, i guess.

What do you have against bi-valves? :)
Hey, I've got nothing against them, but apparently those responsible for this non-compelling rubber match were.

The Yankees and Orioles, meanwhile, are bi-valve friendly.

I'll say it after this season like I have for the last couple of years. Its time for Coach Thibault to be replaced as the Head Coach and possibly even GM duties. He can't win in the playoffs and his record with the Sun has proven it. He's taken the Sun as far as he can and now there needs to be a new dynamic head coach. Don't know who he/she is, but its time.

I really like what Mr006 said. He nailed it, IMO. You see it in college - Vivian and Andy Landers and Jim Foster among many others. I don't know if it is truly their flaw in direct coaching or how they construct their teams or something else - but there are plenty of samples of what can happen if you randomly ditch a coach that at least puts you in position to compete

The Sun have always seemed a hard luck franchise to me. Course I root for the Liberty - so I would be happy with the Sun's success.

I was disappointed for the Sun, for their players, etc. But they came out with no fire, no defense, and no apparent game plan except to miss shots around the basket. Kudos to Indiana for taking advantage and wiping the Sun off their own floor.

I'm not sure if Thiebeault is the problem or not. Were all the missed shots his fault? Honestly I don't know what the answer is. But I'd be shocked if Indiana got more than 1 game off of Minny. It could well be a sweep in the finals again. I think Seattle was actually their toughest opponent so far...
