ASU women's basketball to close season against NCAA first out Houston

ASU women's basketball will close its season Monday against Houston, the first team left out of the NCAA Tournament.

Both teams have wins over NCAA automatic qualifier Stephen F. Austin — ASU 56-47 and Houston 61-59.

Like ASU, Houston's scoring is evenly distributed and guard oriented. Miya Crump and Laila Blair average 10.5 points, Britney Onyeje 9.9 and Dymond Gladney 9.5.

The Cougars made 13 3-pointers against San Francisco, tied for second most in school history.

ASU is No. 26 nationally in scoring defense, allowing 57.0 points per game with its WNIT average even lower at 43.5 against teams not familiar with the Sun Devils' pressure defense.
