There will also be no returns for the legendary American point guard Sue Bird or Latvian legend Anete Jekabsone, who have both spent three seasons with the club.

Russian national team forward Anna Petrakova, also won't have her contract renewed having spent two years with the Russian Premier League champions.

Wonder if it was Sue's choice or UMMC's?? Not sure if those two sentences go together.

I think more US players will be looking at Asia - the shorter asian season is a real benefit as players get about a month off before the WNBA starts up. That can be huge for these players who are otherwise playing straight out for 12 months (unless injury shortens a season.

Only the first $65-90K in foreign earnings is tax free (the number keeps going up but when she started I believe it was $65K) and only if you establish foreign residence for about 250 days - which she probably didn't qualify for.
