On October 24, 2014, the high school was the location of a school shooting. The gunman, Jaylen Fryberg, was a freshman student at the school and died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Four other students were killed and a fifth was seriously injured.[6][7][8]

Sue Bird has always had 'it'. She's physically talented, but what sets her ( and so many of the Huskies) apart is the mental focus and presence they bring to their game, along with an understanding of their place in the community. Good on you, Sue for helping those young girls through a brutal time in their lives.
