Sue Bird olympic flag bearer

That’s quite an honor, although it would be nice if it could have taken place before a stadium full of cheering fans. Oh well, I’ll be cheering at home on my couch.

Adjust to every situation, oldude, just like Sue. Congrats on the honor, Ms. Bird.

(p.s. I'll also watch from a couch, but luckily it's a couch in a rented house by the beach! ;) )

.-.
As I watch the video posted above, with Sue surrounded by her teammates and Dawn Staley giving her a hug, I'm reminded of Dawn's moving acceptance speech at the Naismith HOF, which she framed through her experience as the flag-bearer in Athens 2004.

A fantastic honor not just for Sue, but for the sport of women's basketball. And quite the full-circle moment. Athens 2004 was also Sue Bird's Olympic debut.
