Wondering if anyone has visited the Women's Basketball HOF in Knoxville, and if so, was it worth a trip. Might put it on my bucket list someday.

27 years ago I was reading in the Courant about a recruit from Soyosset out on Long Island who was playing high school ball at Christ the King. Sue chose UConn and she's been among the most loved and respected players that have worn the UConn jersey ever since.

When Sue came to UConn Storrs wasn't the college basketball capital of the world. We won the NC in 1995 but it's a big jump from winning it once to building a long term powerhouse. When Sue came on board UConn had some really good players like Svet, Shea, Bam Bam Hansmeyer, and the twin towers of Kelly Schumacher and Paige Sauer. Sue's class, the class of 1998 was and still is the most acclaimed class in UConn history. The recruits of 1998 gave themselves the name of the TASSK force - Tamika, Asjha, Sue, Swin and Kiersten. Kiersten Walters only played 29 games before injuries forced her out of the game. The other four won 2 NCs and solidified UConn as a major power in women's basketball.

Congrats and thanks Sue, ya did good and we love ya kiddo.

It has been many years - possibly 15 - since we were there, but it certainly was worth it, and we visited several times over the years (we went for Vivian Stringer's induction, again a year or 2 later and again a number of years later).

Very nice facility, I know it is getting older, but they had nice exhibits and of course wonderful ways to remember so many important figures in the history of Women's Basketball. One of the times we went, we were able to listen to a Geno half time talk. It was from a Villanova game and the particular quote I remember was him saying that Villanova wished it had UConn's problems. Very astute.
