The closing line is not very complementary to either Sue or the Israelis.

"While Israel still has athletes competing in rhythmic gymnastics and the men’s marathon, Israel may have to take what it can get when it comes to Olympic medals."

Not to the Israelis maybe, but no skin off Sue.

It's just saying the Israelis have been so unsuccessful they have to grasp at straws, such as a medal won by a citizen.

I realize that but there are much more pleasant ways to say it.

On the other hand Sue is a great person and they should be glad to include her as a passport carrying citizen rather than diminishing her medal to a take what you can get from, well, you know... maybe it was written in Hebrew and translated and something is lost.

The whole storyline is ludicrous. A non-story if I ever saw one.

It's amazing what crap gets ground out by writers with a deadline.

Sue is about as Israeli as a bacon cheeseburger.

You aren't a part of the target audience. The tone and commentary seemed a little quirky to me as well.

The last time I looked Bird was part of Team USA, not Team Isreal.
