Students Camping Out

Blanket and a case of keystone after closing Huskies with my roommate in 1993. December vs. Texas. Afternoon game if I recall correctly so we were out there for at least 12 hours. If anyone can predate our camping trip I would love to hear! No pizza but Coach Calhoun brought out donuts and coffee in the am.

I am very fortunate. We never camped out to get into the Field House. There were no bad seats, aside from leaks. The first year of Gampel I had the Willy Wonka Golden student ticket. So I was behind the basket no matter what. No need to camp out. Never camped out at AFH either, not worth it just for a little better seats.

It's $2.00 beer night. Have no fear.
Hard to see why that would matter since most of the students are underage anyway.

Camped out in ‘04 for the then ranked #7 Oklahoma game. It was so cold that our breath was condensing on the inside of the tent, then freezing. If we bumped the tent at all, the frozen breath vapor would fall like snow. Calhoun and the team showed up with donuts and coffee in the morning

Camped out for college gameday & the UConn-Nova Shabazz buzzer-beater game. Thankfully I was with a group of guys who rotated responsibilities so we could go to the dorm and drink some more soda.
hmm yes. great memories drinking soda :)

I didn't camp out for the Michigan State game in 98/99. I got there super early the next day, and JC had bought like 40 pizzas for the campers for dinner.
Didn't you camp out for Dave and Tim at Jorgensen? I thought i saw you selling beads

Article in the New Haven Register interviewing the students who are sleeping out.

“I got here at 11 p.m. (Monday night), but my friend got here at 10,” Dubon said. “I am going to sleep over tonight. Me and my roommate (Aidan McMahon from Stamford) will sleep here together. It is kind of a cool experience to say that you slept outside for this big game.

“It’s the biggest game in Gampel for as long as I can remember. Games like this don’t come around that often, so you have to be closer to the action and really get into the game. Hopefully we will get the front row, but as close as possible, that’s the goal.”

I slept overnight in a tent for a top ten matchup during undergrad. It's a good memory. We had pizza delivered to us in line.
DP Dough made so much money delivering 10+ calzones at a time on game days in my time ‘08-‘12
