"We are taking this program to a whole new level"...

PP-zzzzzz, Warde monitoring.

ESPN says-- many of you may not know much about the big east with limited national Tv exposure....and whose consistently burying the Bug East?

Just infuratiating at every level.

Totally. Louisville is the anti-UCONN. Everything going in the right direction while we seemingly spiral down the toilet bowl and in to obscurity.

To be fair I'm pretty sure P said something along those lines a couple years ago. BTW Strong is accomplishing this in year three of his tenure and P beat Strong this year in their house.

You're right. If PP gets us a BCS bowl win next year, I'll eat gum off the bottom if Rent seats.

Youre a 17 year old high school senior and on Thursday Charlie Strong comes in to your house and delivers his pitch. The following night, PP shows up and charms you with stories of the 1987 Orange Bowl, Don McPherson and his strong relationship with Connecticut high school coaches. Where do you go to college? Exactly.

Can someone remind me again why anyone at UConn should give more than a cursory damn about what the CONNECTICUT HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COACHES think?

UConn had a terrible relationship with them...and made the Fiesta Bowl.

I really think UConn thinks more of them than they think of themselves. Which is reeeeally saying something.

Neither Edsall or PP were good at selling UConn football to potential fans, not sure how they would sell it to coveted recruits. I contrast that with KO - he fires me up every time I hear him.

its a symbiotic relationship.
if uconn can grow football in ct through jr programs and high school, they can grow the local talent level. now if uconn has a good relationship with the local coaches that helps to keep that talent home.

as the flagship university of the state of ct, it is somewhat meaningful if the top local talent plays at uconn instead of bc, syracuse, or penn state.

Then "the Program" needs to start acting like its a big time program.

I'm at the point now, where college football has become such a joke, that I think we need run with the sewer rats or just be content playing MAC level football.

Look at Ville. They have a sewer rat ace recruiter in Clint Hurtt still on the staff. They pull schollies from kids who don't cover up being assaulted by his teammates. They would admit a boiled head of cabbage if it could run a 4.3 forty. And I'm sure there's more.

People will point to our mess in men's hoops and use that as an argument against this. But those same people wouldn't trade the 3 National Championships. We either play by the same rules as everyone else or just rebuild Memorial. We are going into a gun fight with a friggin plastic fork.
