I'm appreciative of everything Stricklen has done for the franchise, but I thought that she was somewhat overpaid (near max salary). The new CBA increased the maximum salary by >80%, but the salary cap only increased ~35%. This is leading many teams, including the Sun, to pursue a strategy of throwing money at the very best players and then filling in the roster with cheap (i.e., young) players, leaving players like Stricklen out in the cold. I wish her the best in Atlanta.
I expect the Sun feels that they can fill in her defense at the 3 with Bonner and her 3 point shooting with a combination of Bonner and Hiedeman.
