I think we finally are starting to get D. Looked great in the 1st half. Great ball pressure. Not sure what we did different in 2nd half, but we looked like a different team on D.
At 6:22 of the 1st half NG text book boxes out a guy. Usually he doesn't get the ball that far out, but clears the area for SN or others. That time the ball came to him.
NG still shooting crazy from 3, but part of my brain still can't believe it's permanent, and I'm always a bit surprised when he keeps doing it.
Head, back, butt tap x2 from PN was a bit odd.
TO was a statue on D on his first play on the floor and his guy got an uncontested lay in.
We looked great on the boards in the 1st half.
Ollie killing the super-slim stache.
Giffey killing the Amish beard.
Giffey and Omar from the top of the circle are both terrible on the bounce - both guys need to bend more and lower their dribble - way too high.
Like Samuel more every time I see him.
Very much liked the deep rotation in the 1st half. Not sure why we went away from it.
Keep fighting OC.
Get well soon DD.
Always have liked Cronin - class guy. Like the program.
How much money do you think Pete had on the game?
Big O, meet KO.
Samuel is Germany and the Rim is France - if there's an opening, he's going to attack.
How tall is he? He does not appear to have much of neck - he plays like a 6/5 guard.
At 10:26 the foul on Phil was complete nonsense.
The guy on Cinn with the prognathous lower lip looked like a Simpsons character.
At 8:51 why was KO so angry with NG?
SN took way too many quick, not set, leaning back, long 3s at bad times. Head not in game. Seems to not bring best game when playing best guards - hope he conquers that.
We missed a couple of free throws around the 5 minute mark. Could have made a diff.
The continuation layup at 4' was a horrible call, homer, and I hope the NCAA never implements a continuation call.
Announcers had matching purple outfits.
47 seconds left call looked to be the official thinking there was a tie-up, but when he saw there was not, he made the homer call on Brimah.
Florida now has Vegas' best odds to win the NC.
Brimah needs to work on extended-arm defense while jumping, rather than the jump and big swing, which comes late against better offenders.

How does Boat pass up the open 3 with seconds left? Very odd. The great irony is that he passes to Giffey, which he doesn't do enough.

Take the sum:

Away.
No Daniels.
Shabazz has worst game of year, or close to it.
Bench gives almost nothing.
Missed some frees late.
Couple tough calls (continuation and Brimah phantom).

And we were within 3 pts of them with about a minute left.

Really, quite a good showing, notwithstanding the loss, and we will very likely beat them in CT on March 1, which could give us 2 wins over top 10 teams. I'm excited at the prospects we have for the rest of the year.

Agree with most, just a few additional points.

They did take back the continuation call - this is why Cronin was foaming at the mouth. Right call btw. Ollie was pissed at NG because he went for a loose ball half assed.

That Brimah foul was bullshit but I was beginning to second guess myself because the announcers were adamant that Brimah body slammed the guy. Didn't look close in my 2 views.

I am now the complete opposite with NG - expect every single 3 to be a swish.

Bazz was terrible tonight but he did rim out 3 or 4 3's that appeared to be halfway down. He also airballed more shots tonight than the rest of the year combined. I think you are right that its because he was leaning back, he didn't seem to be able to create as much space w/ the step back as usual tonight.

Additionally, I love Bazz but I really don't think he gets it that he was settling. KO seemed livid at Bazz for this reason in the post game comments and Bazz was quoted saying something like "sometimes it seems like you are settling when shots don't fall. But KO is right. I did settle." Guys like him with extreme confidence in themselves think every shot they take is a good one sometimes.

KO got on his case when he took that long 3 on the 3rd to last possession when they came back to the bench. You could see he was telling him he wanted to drive to the basket. 3rd time that's happened, Stanford, Houston, and last night.

Was it good defense or bad offense? Cincy is horrible on offense, they have 2 guys that score with any consistency.

I agree that Bazz settling for a deeeep 3 wasn't the right call, but I even question his driving last night. There seemed to be heavy traffic in the middle and he was driving right into it. We've got to trust the other players to truly succeed and I'd like to see more drive and kick. Boat has been getting the palming call lately as he tries to bob and weave his way in. In doing his thing he seems to be missing some open passes. I don't think they could do what the women's team does in terms of assists as a % of baskets, but last nights 6 assists and 20 baskets is way too low. Cinci had 15 on 23.

Wish Ollie would get after Shabazz more. He shouldn't be making those mistakes in the second half. Those are all mental mistakes.

Calhouns minutes were horrific. His jumpshot looks terrible. Samuel played 3 frikken minutes, all up in KO's doghouse for some reason. ( don't give me a list of reasons why he was sat, unfair to have that hook on him and not other players.)

Giffey was half-assed going for a loose ball (and compounded it with slapping it towards the other basket). I like that Kevin Ollie does have a quick fuse & I think the players know that he quickly moves on. I have seen little evidence of a Dog House ... I think even Omaaar would concur.

Patrick and Greenburg were so pro-Cincy all night. I failed to see Brimah take down anyone and don't even see how it could have been misinterpreted that way. Guy falls down and Brimah is just standing there. Someone else posted that the ref thought it was held ball and hen saw the ball loose, so just called the fall, but I don't think that was the case. The ref underneath was watching the play and the ref across the court blew the whistle. It almost looked to me that the closest ref (underneath) had no idea why the whistle blew and was forced to make a call.

Of cource when the Cincy goon threw Kromah (I think it was) to the floor, not a word...At least we got the ball on that one though.
