Agree.a lot of red in the lower bowl but the upper deck was very blue
A metro north train holds like 600 people 😂 it’s a 20,000 person stadium.Don't buy 20/80 at all, just wasn't as loud because we were playing catchup all 2nd half. This damn packed out Metro North definitely isn't screaming 20/80 lol.
I was sorrounded by a sea of red. It felt 90/10 for me at the start of the game. When we ran the UCONN chant it felt like 80/20 at best.If an SJU fan was telling you it was 60/40, it was because he wants to make the win seem more impressive. I was impressed when we went on some mini runs but I can assure you, the place was packed with Johnnies. For those of us who did attend, we brought what we had but we were outnumbered. We still gave them some jabs
You should be because they typically have in the past. That raises an interesting point that our crowds in MSG I have not only been due to Connecticut fans unwavering interest, but also opposing teams lack of fan support.I for one am shocked that a top 25 conference rival didn't let us buy the majority of the tickets to their home arena
Isn’t the lower bowl mostly SJU season ticket holders? The SJU fans all around me said they are season ticket holders. So tough for UConn fans to get their hands on those tickets if those season ticket holders don’t sell them. When SJU wasn’t good they would sell them. They weren’t selling for this game. The lower bowl was all SJU with some very sparse UConn sprinkled in. Idk what up top was like, but from where I was sitting, it seemed very close to 80/20 SJ. Even when Silas had that poster dunk. It seemed like the only cheers were coming from &f section behind our bench
For St John's games definitely, there's a reason why as soon as St John's became good UConn fans "stopped" showing up. For neutral site games I think UConn fans have actually been good thoughYou should be because they typically have in the past. That raises an interesting point that our crowds in MSG I have not only been due to Connecticut fans unwavering interest, but also opposing teams lack of fan support.
Said differently, it's easier for Connecticut fans to get tickets when opposing teams fans are staying home
The demand is still there. It's just ticket availability. For St John's games definitely, there's a reason why as soon as St John's became good UConn fans "stopped" showing up. For neutral site games I think UConn fans have actually been good though
The lol was there to indicate I was joking and not exactly seriousA metro north train holds like 600 people 😂 it’s a 20,000 person stadium.
very intentional scheduling by SJU/MSG/FOXProbably 70/30 but I knew we’d struggle to bring people on a Friday night. Saturday and Sundays are easier.
Thisa lot of red in the lower bowl but the upper deck was very blue
Couldn't make the Florida game, but otherwise did BYU and Seton Hall. We will figure this out. We need to get better at setting screens for shooters, not just ball handlers.I’ve been to all three games:
- Illinois: best UConn crowd of the three but not close to our best
- Florida: 50/50, arguably outnumbered which surprised me
- St. John’s: 20/80
We better show up for the BET
Does Pitino take another P4 job? The biggest attraction of the St. John's job was that it didn't require him to move. I'm not convinced that he'll be up for the disruption again for a new start up.When Pitino retires or gets a better P4 job those seats will open up again. Once every quarter century the Jawnnies are contenders and their fans awaken from their dormant state and fill MSG. Pitino's a slimeball but he's a great basketball coach who knows how to build teams that neutralize our strengths and expose our weaknesses.
If we can only fill the building on Saturdays is it really Storrs south? Think the fan base has had a bad showing all year except for the Arizona gameProbably 70/30 but I knew we’d struggle to bring people on a Friday night. Saturday and Sundays are easier.
