Storm @ Stars - 8/05/17

Moriah in civvies...I fretted about her movement yesterday
Bummer.

Stars winning big at the half.

Stewie w/ 19 part way thru the 3rd quarter, but Plum almost matching her w/ 16.

Stewie missed three chipies around the hoop before hitting a neat jumper in the lane
56-44 Stars

Last I saw Stars were up 15. Storm closed to within 8 after 3 quarters. Stewie has 28, getting almost no help, no one else in double figure scoring. Plum has 18, 3 other Stars w/ 10 or more points.

Game is in OT. Stewie (2 pts) and Plum (0) both stopped scoring after 3 quarters. Loyd got it going for Seattle, and so did Whitcomb.

Storm was leading most of the way thru OT, but Plum had a quick 5-0 scoring run that gave the Stars the lead for good. Ended up winning by 7. Plum finished w/ 23 (career high I gotta think?), 7-15 from the floor and 5-8 behind the arc. Maybe hope for her yet.

If Plum plays like that all the time, she is a legitimate star. That was a great game. Three in a row for San Antonio. Wow!

Sue Bird numbers wise had a rough game. 4 points and 0-6 three's.
6 assists( not bad) 4 turnovers

I think that this is Plum's breakout game. She put up numbers. Keep it going. Things are getting interesting in San Antonio.

Indeed. With 7 games left, the Stars can match their win total from last year with 7. With 2 wins they surpass it, a milestone they will no doubt try to attain, and thereby improving on last year's win-loss totals.

Am I the only one who thinks her teammates ignore Stewie for extended periods? Especially in crunch time? 28 points in the first 3 quarters, 2 points each in the fourth and overtime.

In my opinion, the Storm will never be consistent winners with the female Mamba (that's a laugh) on their roster. Not a team player, suspect defense, disappears for long stretches. And the next time I see her set a screen for a teammate will be the first time. What, doesn't Muffin teach these things? Fortunately, though, as a No. 1 pick and a top 10 scoring average, they could probably get a quality player back in a trade.

Plum can be guarded into ineffectiveness.
Just stay with her
Seattle is pretty weak at D and horrible at rebounding (if last night's exercise was typical).
Sue is showing signs of age
Not enough scoring threats

What is with the coach and KML? The game before last she was barely played until they were really down and needed three pointers to bring them back. She was inserted and played really well.

She is barely getting minutes. No dig against Whitcomb but I don't think she is better than Kaleena.
--------------
I've said this already - the Storm need at least two more scorers consistent double digit scorers.

Plum has a career high verse Sue Bird. I agree about Plum being able to be guarded into ineffectiveness with the right player staying with her. That was a good way to put it.

Sue, Jewell, and Alyssa Clark have been bad on defense many times this year. Sue is still good on offense, but has lost some quickness on defense. A lot of players who those 3 have guarded this year, have had career nights. Teams have figured out, whoever Stewie is guarding, go set a pick outside, and if you miss a shot you have a great chance to get the rebound.
