Guess I have unrealistic expectations but after the national championship I sort of expected some top recruits to do more than show interest at this stage. We had one de commit. This is not for lack of effort from KO and staff and we'll maybe know something soon but we have the best young coach in America here in a 4 time winning program. Am I the only one who thinks they should be lined up? Is it because of who we already have?

did I miss something, besides Govan what other targes have gone elsewhere? Most of the kids we're after said they were either going to commit after the AAU season or the spring(Newman), why should they be adjusting their schedule because you're impatient? This board can be something else man.

3 of the top 20 have committed so far.
14 of the top 50.

It's still pretty early.

Kentucky, like UConn, has one commitment.

After Louisville won the national championship last year, they had three players in the top 50 committed: Quentin Snider, Jaquan Lyle & Shaqquan Aaron.

By July, they only had one of them left- Shaqquan Aaron.

They are now going into next season with a top 10 recruiting class after getting other commits between September 2013 and March 2014.

Patience.

Most top 2015 recruits have been formulating their opinions for 1-2 years now. Not like the NCAA Tournament is going to make them start over again. Clearly it made a difference with Newman/Stone to get us into the picture, but we're fighting uphill there too and I'd be surprised if we made up enough ground. Really, Adams and a big (Sharma/Enoch/Stone/whoever else) is enough to keep us moving in the right direction. We have a heavy sophomore nucleus next year - Cassell, Samuel, Purvis, Facey, Brimah - and just need to fill in some pieces around them for the near future (and then be ready for Purvis and Hamilton to leave early).

Also, Ollie just really cemented his reputation as a top notch game coach - and a guy who is considered NBA material, yet happy where he's at. In February, he was still an up and comer without much of a national reputation, and the top recruits probably didn't have us in their top tier of options. The dividends from our run are more likely to come in 2016, since those guys are earlier in the process. For 2015, the title could make a difference to someone who was already seriously considering us (I mean you, Jalen) as the final verification, or perhaps to someone who blows up this summer (a la Jeremy Lamb). Unlikely that someone just drops everything they've done in the recruiting process until now and hops on board because they watched us win on TV.

The amount of 'free recruiting' Ollie got during the NCAA's was astronomical. I can't help but think it will be very beneficial. It put his name on the tips of every good recruit's tongue.

A la Steven Enoch.

I don't know if my expectation are unrealistic or not, but what has Ollie really done since winning the NC?

I expected Ollie to have won some more games by now. Gotten to at least another sweet 16.

And, why did you have to allow KY to be so close in the NC game? I really would have preferred to win that game by 20 points.

We just had the #1 player in the country, who is from Wisconsin, pay his own way to visit Uconn this past weekend.

He shouldn't have needed a visit. If he had #tentoesin, he'd have already committed.

Does our coach have ten toes in? Hamilton never signed an LOI because he wasn't sure Ollie wold be here this year. Every time KO gets the chance to put a stake through the heart of rumors, he says "I never say never." I'm sure this is used in a negative way against UConn. KO really needs to be more convincing if he wants kids to commit to him.

In all seriousness, I think Ollie just wants to keep leverage as he has to continue to deal with Warde, and make sure the penny-pinching doesn't impact the program he's trying to run.

You have no idea what he is saying to recruits behind closed doors. He doesn't need to constantly publicly declare his allegiance to UConn in press release fashion.

But here's the real question -- is he still on the hot seat?

I wish our coach would make definitive statements in public but would negotiate the Cavs in private.

Dham didn't sign an LOI because his family didn't want him to after his brother's situation, he was never going to sign an LOI, not sure why this board has such a difficult time understanding this. As for KO, how stupid would he look by saying he's never going to the NBA? He hopefully still has another 20 plus years of coaching left in his lifetime, he's not going to paint himself in a corner by saying he would never entertain the NBA when who knows what would happen if the right situation came along. You guys are far more concerned about KO's future coaching here than potential recruits, Derrick Jones's AAU coach just said the other week that the fact that NBA teams have KO on their radar makes him even more appealing as a coach, JC also said something similar last month when negotiations were still ongoing.

Hamilton doesn't need an LOI. He has made a commitment to take classes at UCONN. Isn't that better than an LOI?

Look, when I started this I really just wondered why national champions seemed to have to beg for recruits (everybody begs these 18 year olds I know) admittedly I don't know their complete timing process. Maybe I was wrong with the impression that a Duke or Kentucky would have had a couple of 5 stars within 2 months of winning. What we did have was a de committ OK, but let's not attack over just wondering why. It's no knock on KO or the staff or how committed they are to their job.

It's weird that I'm still amazed by people's level of stupidity on this board. I wonder if that will ever go away.
One of us alone is never as dumb as all of us together - that's why we have meetings :p and internet bulletin boards :D.
