EVERY year it's the same thing with UCONN football... They make it HARD to view the game on TV in lower Fairfield County. I know I know, you guys will say you should be going to the games to support the team properly, but what if you can't? All the friggin money we spend in this state and you can't at least provide football coverage better than ESPN3.COM? Gimme a break already....

Wow, felt great getting that off my chest... Sorry if I made too much sense to better promote this team to its #1 fanbase (the entire state of CT)

Our program was on the front page of the sports section of the Stamford Advocate yesterday. It was an article about WRs. We are getting there. Have to keep pushing.

It's not like you can watch it anywhere else in Connecticut. When you sell your television rights the owners are going to leverage them to grow their properties.

While you were busy trying to make too much sense....I think you got clouded by the fact that UConn is under a TV contract with ESPN which usually frowns on other networks profited from its product....

But whatever...don't let common sense get in the way

No need to be ripping the OP, who does have a valid point. ESPN and UConn could do a much better job of promoting how to watch the game. Not easy as 1-2-3 if you're not computer savvy. A lot harder than turning your TV to a particular channel.

Well I will rip because coming out attacking UConn for something they have no control over isn't right....and do you think ESPN really cares about promoting UConn?

I think 'no control' might be stretching it a bit. ESPN certainly could be 'persuaded' to get the game(s) on TV. Remember when ESPNU was just getting off the ground and ESPN was not going to show a UConn Big East women's basketball tournament game? Rell got involved and amazingly people were able to see the game. Granted, intensity of interest in women's hoop (at that time) was so huge Rell had leverage. Since intensity of interest in UConn football isn't at that stage yet not worth going to war like Rell did. But while there are things that are completely beyond UConn's control, this is not one of them.

Edit: But in the end probably a good thing Towson is not on 'real' TV. More incentive to buy a ticket.

Wasn't trying to rip UCONN. the whole system sucks... the fans on this board (the real ones) get it.. And, yes, I probably should go to the game, but UCONN football still has a lot to prove to the MAJOR media outlets to get easy access exposure. This kind of TV rights stuff and where they air the games (ESPN) seems to validate my concern.

As long as you have access. Which depends on your provider. I have DirecTV so I don't. But I use AT&T for Internet so I have it in the house. I just can't access WatchESPN remotely.

Do you mean non-UConn games (eg, Boston professional sports)? Never had any problems watching a UConn game in Fairfield County even when they were on local TV -- channel 20 etc.

Not really, his whine was Fairfield county-centric. It's no different there than Hartford county. In fact, FC had SNY before most of the rest of the state. Maybe back when games were on over-the-air channels that they didn't get he had a point, but it hasn't been like that for years. It's a stale whine.

Selling your soul for TV money is a double edged sword. Sure, you get paid, but you also expose yourself to less visibility to the people you are looking to acquire as paying customers.

I don't subscribe to the theory that the way to get people to the games is to not televise them.

When they started putting the games on ESPNU, and Cablevision didn't carry it then, I had to go to DirecTV (also to get NESN). Uverse wasn't yet widely available. Amazing that with cable living in the middle of CT I couldn't get UCONN or SOX games.

AT&T U-Verse has WatchESPN? Really? What channel? Are you in Hartford County?

We're dealing with the opposite problem here. More exposure for less money. We have MORE exposure now than we did with the BE. We have more exposure than mainstream ACC teams like NC State. If we join the ACC, we'll have more money and less exposure than we have now.

Maybe, because it's Gameday, and I can't wait to bolt out of work early.......it's clouding my ability to think straight. But I don't follow you here.

Watch ESPN is a mobile app available to ATT Uverse customers. If you don't have a mobile phone or pad, you can watch on ESPN3 on your computer.

Got it -- I was hoping that it was added to one of the 27,846 channels on my TV.
