Would love to see a comeback for Stanley, a great kid who fought through some tough times to be a Husky and have some special times here. Seems like he truly enjoys being with the kids and teaching them while at the camp, that's not always the case with "headline" guys at camps.

The quotes about JC being his father figure and how tough he was on him to make him a man is what makes our HOF coach so much more special than the guys mentioned ahead of him in all-time NCAA coaching……..it's not like that with the rest of them!!

Come on, you have no clue what you're talking about. Didn't you see all the times Calhoun screamed in his players' faces? He's clearly just an old curmudgeon that none of the players today can connect with. [/typicalsportswriter]

He stayed at my uncle's house while he was working at the camp. Nothing new, but my uncle said he is still really quiet/shy, but he's the nicest guy you'll ever meet. Played a lot with my cousins, and even with the achilles injury my uncle said he hardly ever misses. I actually got to talk to him briefly on the phone, and he said it's feeling a lot better...didn't start drilling him on his plans for getting out of Canada, but I can talk to my uncle and see if he mentioned anything. Always rooting for this guys as he's one of my all time favorite huskies

Not to harp on the negative, but playing 4 seasons at UConn and graduating 3 semesters shy is a bit of an issue. Wish the guy the best of luck, but really glad we have upped our game recently with players not only winning on the court, but in the classroom too.

LOVE Stanley to pieces...his whole family, including his 2 little girls were in Alabama. Talk about divided loylaties! He was MIA for long periods of time, which was, I believe, what caused Coach Calhoun to revoke his scholarship temporarily & why he was working at the sheet metal plant for Ruslan.

He was a unique case - he withdrew from school for a personal leave and then took a semester off (while working in the factory). He played four years (3 1/2 really, and the 1/2 was as a walk on), but was only in school for six semesters. He and AJ (brain surgery) had reasonable excuses not to graduate on time, unlike some others in that era.

In theory, Sticks could have redshirted instead of playing that half-season, just to try to catch up academically, but then you lose a year of earning potential.

Pretty much par for the course in MCBB. most schools just graduate the guy. I'm betting Stanley comes back to finish his degree once his pro career is over, like Tony Robertson and Taliek last year.
